South Korea's official announcement of Hwang Sun-hong as interim coach in back-to-back games against Thailand in March has coached Yanbian Fude

On February 27, Beijing time, the Korean Football Association Strengthened Committee held its third meeting and officially announced that Hwang Sun-hong would serve as the interim coach of the South Korean national team, which will end in May this year.

In the Qatar Asian Cup, the South Korean team, which aims to win the championship, lost 0-2 to Jordan and stopped in the semi-finals, and the head coach Jurgen Klinsmann was sacked on February 16, and the Korean Football Association decided to appoint an interim coach first.

Hwang Sun-hong represented South Korea in three World Cups in 1990, 1994 and 2002 as a player, making a total of 103 appearances in all competitions, scoring 50 goals. In 2003, he retired as a coach and coached Jeonnam Dragons, Busan IPark, Pohang Steelers and Seoul FC.

In 2018, Huang Shanhong went to Yanbian Fude to coach, but two months later Yanbian Fude was disbanded due to tax arrears, and he left without leading the team to a single official game.

In 2021, Hwang Sun-hong was the coach of the South Korean Olympic team, and in 2022, he lost 0-3 to Japan in the 2022 U23 Asian Cup and reached the quarter-finals, and at last year's Hangzhou Asian Games, Hwang Sun-hong led the South Korean Asian Games team to win the gold medal.

It is reported that Hwang Sun-hong's term as interim coach will end in May, when a permanent head coach will be appointed. In the round of 36 of the World Preliminary Tournament, South Korea won the first two rounds and will face Thailand back-to-back in March.
