Mingchang Monument

In front of the statue of the Big Buddha Temple, there is a row of stone tablets on both sides, and the northernmost tablet in the west is the "Mingchang Tablet" of the Jin Dynasty. The full name is "Yizhou Dafengguo Temple continues to install two holes of sage inscription". The inscription was written in the third year of Jin Tianjun (1140). The stele was carved in the third year of Jin Mingchang (1192). The inscription mainly records the grand scale of Fengguo Temple in the Liaojin period, as well as the process of reinstalling the two caves of sages in the third year of the Heavenly Reign.

The author of the inscription is Zhang Shao, the envoy of the Song State to Jin and the secretary of the Ministry of Rites. According to the "History of the Song Dynasty" volume 373 "Zhang Shaojuan", in the third year of Jianyan (1129 AD), Jin invaded, Zhang Shao was ordered to send an envoy to the Jin State, and was exiled for 12 years because he refused to pay homage to the left prison army of the Jin State. During this period, he was exiled to Yizhou (Yixian), and then there was a Song and Jin "Shaoxing collegiality", and then he was returned to the Southern Song Dynasty in 1141 A.D. on the grounds that "Emperor Jin had a son".
