However, coming to Huzhou completely changed my opinion, and I saw the beauty of the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River with my own eyes. There is a small river every few steps, and a large ripple of water every five steps. With a river almost every two kilometres and almost all of them leading to canals, the water here is the richest I've ever seen. It's not an exaggeration to call it a fisherman's paradise. The wild rivers here are rich in a variety of fish, including almost all common fish species. Of course, the four divine beasts in the water are also indispensable. Moreover, the white-striped fish have been overrun, and the situation of trout hooking gradually decreases after winter. Only those white stripes that are not afraid of cold and death are still active.
On the evening of the 28th, the boss informed everyone in the group that everyone would have a day off tomorrow. Towards the end of the year, the work is also beginning to be completed, but the work is still day after day. Well, whether you earn money or not, after all, after a hard year, you should reward yourself for taking a vacation. For the rest of the day, I plan to continue to do the finishing touches and wait for my boss to settle this year's salary. Once the project money is in hand, I can go home early for the Chinese New Year. I reckon there will be plenty of fishing opportunities in the coming month.
At 5 o'clock in the morning on the 29th, I got up and started to wash. I'm used to waking up early every day, and I insist on getting up at this time, whether I go to work or not. When I opened the door to my dorm room, I suddenly felt that something was wrong, and it was foggy. As for whether foggy weather is suitable for fishing, only practice can verify. I cooked breakfast while waiting for dawn. At half past six, when it was already dawn, I said hello to my co-workers in the dormitory next door, and then set off for the river.

The equipment is as follows: a fishing rod, a folding chair, a bait pot, a bag of bait. For today's special fishing, I specially borrowed a small fish basket from a worker. I used a 5.4 meter rod with a 0.8+0.4 line set and a size 3 hook. I chose Hellcat Fishy as bait. Due to the fog today, I also specially brought an electronic float, which can adjust the depth of the fishing spot, and I can fish normally both day and night.
I used to fish under the bridge well, so I chose that location today. When I started to find the bottom, I realized that there was some inaccuracy in the last bottom, and I continued to adjust the position of the fishing spot to try to find a more accurate bottom. Due to the presence of fog, the field of view was somewhat limited, but I tried to find a relatively ideal location with experience. I put the Hellcat bait off the hook into the water and waited for the fish to take the bait.
Soon after, my rod let out a faint tremor and I immediately tightened my line and prepared to catch my first fish. I carefully pulled the fish up, and I saw a beautiful grass carp that I had successfully caught. Although this grass carp is not very big, its appearance has made me feel more confident.
As time passed, the fog cleared and the sky grew brighter. Two of my co-workers also arrived at the fishing spot one after another, and they also started to prepare for fishing. We exchanged fishing tips and enjoyed a peaceful morning.
Gradually, my rod fluttered again, this time a slightly larger white fish took the bait. I carefully pulled it ashore while feeling its fierce resistance. This thrilling feeling excites me even more, and I know that I had good luck fishing today.
As the minutes ticked by, I caught a few white stripes and some other species. My co-workers also gained something, and everyone enjoyed the fun of fishing with joy. In this tranquil wilderness, we forget about the hard work and focus on the joy of fishing.
At noon, we used our own stove to burn some of the fish we caught. We set up a simple barbecue station by the river and enjoyed the aroma of fresh fish and grilled fish. This simple lunch became an unforgettable experience and we had a pleasant afternoon laughing.
In the afternoon, we continued fishing, but as the weather became gloomy, the activity of the fish gradually decreased. Although we caught fewer fish, we didn't give up and continued to persevere. While waiting, we savored the tranquil water, admired the beauty of the surroundings, and felt the magic of nature.
In the evening, we decided to pack our things and go home. Although today's fishing harvest was not as rich as in the morning, we all had a rare sense of relaxation and pleasure. We smiled all the way back to the construction site dormitory and shared our experiences today.
This one-day fishing trip made me love Huzhou even more. Here, I not only enjoyed fishing, but also felt the beauty of nature. Fishing has brought me relaxation and pleasure, and I have taken a break from my busy work in these months in Huzhou, and I have found that fishing is not only a recreational activity, but also a kind of spiritual healing. Every time I waited quietly by the lake for the fish to take the bait, I felt a sense of peace and inner peace. In this hustle and bustle of the world, fishing became a way for me to connect with nature.
In addition to enjoying the fun of fishing, I also started to learn a lot from it. I learned to observe the weather and adjust the choice of fishing spots and bait according to the weather conditions. I learned to listen to the sound of the river and judge the position of the fish by the changes in the current. I learned to be patient and not discouraged even when there was no gain.
At the same time, I also met many like-minded fishing friends. At the lake, I met all kinds of people from different places, but we all shared a common hobby – fishing.
