Raptors and Nets reach 2-for-1 deal: Schroder and Dinwiddie swap owners The Lakers and the old players will reunite

On February 9, Beijing time, according to a report from WOJ, the Raptors and the Nets reached a 2-for-1 deal, with guards Schroder and Dinwiddie swapping owners. In order to tie the trade, the Raptors also paid for veteran Thaddeus Young, who has shown some recent performance, in this deal.

Dinwiddie started 48 games for the Nets this season, averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 6 assists per game. The Raptors traded for guard Quickley in the middle of the season, and sending Schroder away would secure him at the centerpiece of point guard in the team's rebuild, and Dinwiddie's arrival won't pose much of a threat to Quickley.

Dinwiddie, meanwhile, is on contract expiring this year, and the Raptors can ensure that they have plenty of flexible salary space this summer. Even though Dinwiddie may not have performed as well as Schroder this season, Schroder had one year left on his contract, and his presence could not help the Raptors enter the rebuild in a reasonable way, so the Raptors ultimately chose to send him away. After completing this deal, the Raptors are expected to keep Quickley today with a high salary, and free up about $35 million in salary space.

Schroder is averaging 13.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game this season, but the Raptors currently have an 18-33 record, and they are completely rebuilding after sending Siakam away, and Schroder is not in their long-term plans, so sending him away is almost a foregone conclusion. Schroder joins the Nets to reunite with his former Lakers teammate Lonnie Walker, who is also expected to remain with the Nets as the starting point guard.
