Fan Chengda was a famous poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, and also a politician, one of the "Four Masters of Zhongxing" in the Southern Song Dynasty. As for Fan Chengda, his poetry is a household name, but few people know about other aspects. His calligraphy, in particular, is rarely mentioned.
In addition to composing poems, Fan Chengda's calligraphy is also very powerful. His cursive work "Zhongliu Yiju Post" is one of his hand-me-down inkblots and is very classic. On the whole, Fan Chengda's work has a strong sense of rhythm, and the overall discipline is very harmonious. In the writing of the free, sometimes urgent, sometimes slow, with the pen continuous, with a strong coherence, from the style of the work, this work should belong to his calligraphy mature period of the representative work.
In the Song Dynasty, calligraphy was learned in the Wei and Jin dynasties, and many calligraphers used Tang Dynasty calligraphy as a bridge to trace back to the Wei and Jin dynasties. It is not difficult to see from Fan Chengda's "Zhongliu A Pot Post" that Fan Chengda's calligraphy also belongs to the "two kings" lineage. And, in the processing of some words, there are traces of calligraphy of some famous artists in the Northern Song Dynasty, such as Mi Fu, Fan Chengda's work, there are many words in the treatment of Mi Fu very similar.
