However, in that male-dominated society, where women generally had a lower status and whose main task was to take care of the family and raise children, for some poor widows or middle-aged and elderly women who had lost their spouses, the profession of turtle woman gave them a way to earn a living.
In ancient cultures, turtles were considered a symbol of longevity and aura, so divination with shells was considered to have mysterious powers, they would catch, kill and remove the shells, and then engrave characters on the shells that ordinary people could not understand, through which they could decipher people's fate and future.
Sometimes, however, they use false information to deceive customers and make them spend a lot of money, such as they may lie about marital crises, property damage, etc., causing panic among people, and then take the opportunity to sell their own disaster relief services, which not only damages their reputation, but also causes great trouble for those innocent victims.
"Human traffickers"
The greed of the "turtle women" has outweighed their sanity, and in order to gain their profits, they often disguise themselves as old women or doctors, so as to deceive people into trust, and thus achieve their evil ends.
These greedy turtle women take advantage of people's superstition and ignorance to disguise themselves as old women or doctors in order to deceive people's trust, and once they have gained trust, they begin to set traps to trick their victims into sending their children or relatives under their control.
