On January 31, 2024, Xiamen Public Resources Trading Network released the "General General Contracting and Whole Line System Design of Quanzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou Intercity Railway R1 Line Project".

The bidding content includes the overall general contract and the whole line system design, with a total investment of 72.7 billion, and the planned bidding time is February 2, 2024.

On December 22, the fifth meeting of the joint meeting of the Southwest Fujian Coordinated Development Zone mentioned that major cooperation projects in southwest Fujian are progressing smoothly, among which the construction plan of Quanzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou intercity rail (R1 line) has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Recently, some netizens inquired on People's Daily Online about the operation mode and construction progress of the R1 line. In this regard, the latest reply of the Quanzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission on January 26: Quanzhou to Xiamen to Zhangzhou intercity railway R1 line is planned to use public transportation, the project is currently being carried out by the design unit feasibility study and preparation work, the project is still in the early stage, the specific start time, construction mode, operation mode need to be determined after the subsequent approval.

At the end of June this year, the Xiamen Development and Reform Commission issued the "Public Participation in the Public Participation in the Social Stability Risk Assessment of the Construction Planning Adjustment of the Intercity Railway in Fujian Province (Xiamen-Zhangquan Intercity Railway R1 Line)". The section from Quanzhou East Railway Station to Zhangzhou Jintang in the initial stage of this adjustment is 173.782km long, with 25 stations on the whole line, and 6 stations reserved in combination with urban planning.

There are 12 stations and 2 reserved stations

According to the publicity documents, the Quanzhou station includes (initial project): Quanzhou East Railway Station - Haisi Park Station - Baisha Station (reserved) - Beixing Station - Donghai Station - Jinqi Station - Fengze Station - Chidian Station - Jinjiang Airport Station - SM Square Station - Kechuang Park Station (reserved) - Anhai Station - Shuitou Station - Shijing Station.
