Xu Xiangqian has set two rare historical records among the top ten marshals of the founding of the People's Republic of China: he is the first person among the top ten marshals to lead more than 100,000 troops. He is also the person with the most famous generals among the ten marshals of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Whether it is the founding general Chen Xilian or Xu Shiyou, many generals who can fight well are from Xu Xiangqian's disciples.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, many generals were grateful to Xu Xiangqian, the old chief, and without Xu Xiangqian's guidance in the past, they would not be where they are today. Marshal Xu Xiangqian's health was not very good, so Chen Xilian, Xu Shiyou and others often brought some supplements to visit Xu Xiangqian's home.

Zhou Chunquan, who was taken care of by Xu Xiangqian
This general of our army, who was taken care of by Xu Xiangqian, was named Zhou Chunquan, and he also won the rank of founding general in the first award of the People's Liberation Army in 1955.
Like Chen Xilian, Xu Shiyou and other founding generals, Zhou Chunquan was also a general from the Red Fourth Front Army. During his dedication to the revolution, Zhou Chunquan was taken care of by Xu Xiangqian.
If you take the resumes of Chen Xilian and Xu Shiyou as an example, without Xu Xiangqian's guidance, maybe there would not be such a day. So for Zhou Chunquan, if he hadn't been taken care of by Xu Xiangqian back then, whether he could survive until the founding of New China is probably a question.
Zhou Chunquan participated in the revolution very early and also had a very deep resume in the party. In 1923, he participated in the strike struggle, joined the Communist Party of China in 1926, and participated in the Hubei Jute Uprising in 1927 - joining the party before 1927 and participating in the army uprising were the two important criteria for the selection of the founding generals in 1955.
However, throughout the more than 20 years that Zhou Chunquan participated in the revolution, he has a stain that cannot be washed away: that is, during the Red Army period, he did not follow the military orders of his superiors, not only suffered defeat, but also almost put Xu Xiangqian in danger, what is going on?
It turned out that during the Red Army's anti-encirclement and suppression campaign in the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base Area, Xu Xiangqian took Wang Hongkun and Xu Shiyou to lead two regiments to attack the enemy army and let Zhou Chunquan defend the military camp. Xu Xiangqian told Zhou Chunquan that he would lead his troops out to solve the enemy on the periphery, and he would come back soon, and what Zhou Chunquan had to do was to stick to the barracks and not go out, no matter how arrogant and provocative the enemy was, don't open the door to face the battle.
After receiving Xu Xiangqian's order, Zhou Chunquan agreed at first. However, when Xu Xiangqian led the troops away and the enemy provoked in front of the barracks, Zhou Chunquan's quick temper couldn't be contained, and he completely took Xu Xiangqian's advice as the wind in his ears.
The moment he led a detachment out of the barracks to meet the battle, he had already stepped into the trap of the enemy - when he and his comrades drove away the provocative enemy troops outside the barracks and were about to return to the barracks, he found that the enemy had occupied the barracks and surrounded them.
In desperation, Zhou Chunquan had no choice but to lead his troops to break out of the encirclement and prepare to join Xu Xiangqian. At this time, Xu Xiangqian, who was still fighting outside the barracks, had no idea about it.
When Xu Xiangqian returned to the barracks, he found that it was too late - the enemy's occupation of the barracks made him and Xu Shiyou and others' troops fall into a homeless predicament for a while, and later under the heavy encirclement and pursuit of the enemy, Xu Xiangqian relied on many years of military experience to get rid of the enemy's entanglement and find Zhou Chunquan's troops.
Zhou Chunquan, who learned that he had made a huge mistake, was ashamed and immediately invited Xu Xiangqian to admit his mistake. Xu Xiangqian, who was holding back the fire in his belly, originally wanted to follow Kong Ming's tears and slash the horse and engage Zhou Chunquan in military law, but the soldiers around him persuaded him: The soldiers have already suffered so many casualties when they break through the siege, and we can't let ourselves suffer losses anymore.
Seeing that there were people around him who interceded for Zhou Chunquan, and he really couldn't bear to punish Zhou Chunquan, he said to him: "How many times have I told you before, the most taboo thing in a war is to be impetuous and in a hurry. One general is incompetent, and the three armies are harmed, and you see how many soldiers have died because of you? This is a lesson, and I hope you will always remember it!"
Xu Xiangqian's words are not only a teaching to Zhou Chunquan, but also a redemption for him. Zhou Chunquan naturally knew the weight hidden in Xu Xiangqian's words, so he tearfully agreed to Xu Xiangqian, saying that the mistakes he made today are unforgettable, and he will always remember Xu Xiangqian's rescue today.
However, what Xu Xiangqian didn't expect was that Zhou Chunquan did something that made him feel very chilled after this, and this was the real reason why Xu Xiangqian finally decided not to get along with Zhou Chunquan.
Why did Zhou Chunquan arrest Xu Xiangqian's ex-wife
In 1932, on an execution ground on the outskirts of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base, a female prisoner covered in blood was escorted, and with the order of the executioner, several Red Army soldiers fired at the same time, and the female prisoner immediately fell in a pool of blood.
This female prisoner is not a local landlord with the most heinous crimes in Sichuan and Shaanxi, or a spy of the Kuomintang, his real identity is Xu Xiangqian's wife, named Cheng Xunxuan. And the person who ordered the execution of Cheng Xunxuan was Zhou Chunquan, who had been saved by Xu Xiangqian before.
Cheng Xunxuan, like Zhou Chunquan, joined the Jute Uprising in his early years, and Xu Xiangqian appreciated each other during the revolution, and became a couple, she was bold and spicy, under the guidance of Xu Xiangqian, it didn't take long for her to become a terrifying female general of our army, and during several anti-encirclement and suppression operations of the Red Fourth Front Army, Cheng Xunxuan made great contributions to consolidating the revolutionary base of the Red Army.
So, what was the reason that Cheng Xunxuan was ordered to be shot by the Red Fourth Front Army at that time, and the person who ordered the arrest and execution of Cheng Xunxuan was precisely Zhou Chunquan?
This has to mention another person in the Red Fourth Front Army: Zhang Guotao, although this person was born in the Red Fourth Front Army, but unlike other heroes of the Red Fourth Front Army, this person not only had inflated ambitions, but also engaged in the absurd thing of the Red Army's northward and southward movement in 1935, and his personal character was extremely despicable. During his tenure at the helm of the Red Fourth Front Army, in order to regain his personal power, he launched several "anti-rebellion" campaigns within the Red Fourth Front Army, and knocked down all those who did not obey him.
Many Red Army soldiers had to give in temporarily because they were afraid of Zhang Guotao's obscenity, for fear that Zhang Guotao would seize on his own handle, and if he didn't do well, he would even be killed. However, there is one person in the Red Fourth Front Army who is not afraid of Zhang Guotao, and this person is Xu Xiangqian.
As far as Xu Xiangqian is concerned, first, he knows that he is different from Zhang Guotao, and he will never mix with a person with despicable conduct and corrupt thinking; second, Xu Xiangqian knows that he is frank and unrestrained, and he has never offended anyone in the army.
However, Xu Xiangxiang obviously underestimated the lower limit of Zhang Guotao's character, seeing that Xu Xiangqian refused to yield to himself from beginning to end, Zhang Guotao had long regarded Xu Xiangqian as a thorn in his side and a thorn in his flesh, but Zhang Guotao really couldn't find any handle for Xu Xiangqian for a while, so he really had nothing to do with Xu Xiangqian for a while. Just when Zhang Guotao was at a loss for this, someone around him gave him an idea:
"Since Xu Xiangqian is a righteous gentleman, why not start with the people around him?"
Zhang Guotao had inspiration at this time, and only then did Zhang Guotao find Zhou Chunquan, who had saved his life in Xu Xiangqian in the past.
Zhang Guotao asked Zhou Chunquan to find himself some handles that could hold Xu Xiangqian, and Zhou Chunquan himself fell into a huge contradiction:

Seeing that Zhou Chunquan couldn't say Xu Xiangqian's handle, Zhang Guotao had to choose another person, and it didn't take long for Zhang Guotao to set his sights on Xu Xiangqian's wife: Cheng Xunxuan, he felt that Cheng Xunxuan, as Xu Xiangqian's wife, must know what secrets Xu Xiangqian had, so he ordered Cheng Xunxuan to be arrested and interrogated strictly, and the executor of Zhang Guotao's arrest warrant was Zhou Chunquan.
This time, Zhou Chunquan said that there was no reason to refuse, because after all, it was the duty of a soldier to obey orders, not to mention that under the threat of Zhang Guotao at that time, he himself had no more choice.
In this way, Xu Xiangqian's wife was arrested by Zhang Guotao, but Zhang Guotao was disappointed: even if he used a strict torture method comparable to that of the Kuomintang against Cheng Xunxuan, Cheng Xunxuan did not say a word from beginning to end - not only because she was Xu Xiangqian's wife, but also because of Xu Xiangqian's almost perfect character.
Seeing that his conspiracy was frustrated, Zhang Guotao was annoyed and angry, so he had to order the killing of Cheng Xunxuan, and it was Zhou Chunquan himself who carried out this order.
Zhou Chunquan told the truth, and Xu Xiangqian did not get along with each other until he died
However, what is surprising is that when Cheng Xunxuan was executed, Xu Xiangqian didn't know anything about it at the time, because Xu Xiangqian did everything he could get to the end of the day, and he really rarely went home, let alone specifically inquired about his wife's whereabouts.
Later, Xu Xiangqian only knew that his wife died in Zhang Guotao's "rebellion", but he still did not know the specific details.
