The engine is an old model, a multi-point EFI that injects fuel at the intake manifold position, and a small-displacement turbocharged engine that has been used since the Tiggo 3; its maximum net power is actually 6kW lower, that is, only 108kW, and the power experience can only be said to be decent. However, in plug-in hybrid vehicles, the main focus is on the level of the electric motor, and the total power of its 3DHT integrated motor is 125kW/315N·m, so the overall level is not bad, and the new 100 kilometers can accelerate in 7.0 seconds.

Why not use a brand new engine?

This problem is difficult to decipher, you must know that the sub-brand Jietu, which has a lower brand positioning than Xingtu, has applied the new model.

For example, the Shanhai L9 plug-in hybrid car uses the SQRH4J15 1.5T, which is a special hybrid model with Miller cycle technology, with a power reserve of 115kW/220N·m and a maximum net power of 105kW. Although its parameters are not as good as SQRE4T15C, the Miller cycle technology it uses is more fuel-efficient than the Otto cycle technology of the old engine, and the Miller cycle will delay the closing of the intake valve in the compression stroke, which will lead to the return of part of the mixed oil and gas to the intake manifold, and the power will be worse, and the actual power difference on this basis is only 3kW, objectively speaking, the level of the new engine is higher.

In addition, Shanhai L9 also uses a 2DHT hybrid transmission, which should be somewhat optimized compared with the old 3DHT.

To sum up, the technical level of the Xingtu C-DM is already lower than that of the plug-in hybrid car of the Jietu brand, which does not match the positioning of the two brands, but if you interpret it based on the comprehensive sales data, such a setting seems to be understandable, and the cumulative retail sales of the car in 2023 will be 1162 units! The design of Xingtu chasing the wind is not very outstanding, the body size is only 4538*1848*1699 mm, and the wheelbase is even only 2670 mm.

The highest sales volume of the Xingtu brand in 2023 is Yaoguang, with an annual sales of 26,709 units, followed by Lingyun and Lanyue, with sales of 15,208 and 10,286 units respectively, and the Chasing Wind fuel version is only 5,976 units, which shows that the focus of the Xingtu brand in the next stage should be on the first three vehicles.

Forecast:

The Xingtu brand currently has two series, namely Xingtu and Xingtu Epoca, and Xingtu Epoch currently has only one production car, and deliveries will only start in December 2023, which is the Epoch ES, and its December sales are finally determined to be 740 units. If the Xingtu Xingtu Epoch series can finally succeed, then the focus of the Xingtu brand is very likely to move closer to the series, after all, the brand upward is the direction that Chery has been working towards. At that time, the fuel vehicles of the Xingtu brand may be gradually abandoned, or they may be fully upgraded through electric drive technology.

On the contrary, if the final performance of the Star Era series is not satisfactory, perhaps the layout of the fuel car camp will be adjusted in the next stage.
