Evil is full of evil. Li Jinsheng, the leader of the bandits, was born in 1905 in Taozhuang, Chenji Township, Linquan County. He successively served as a baoding, a villager, a puppet soldier, a policeman, and a plainclothes special service captain, and later became a bandit. They specialize in burning, killing, raping, and looting, causing great disasters to the local people, and they are really full of evil.
In the first half of 1947, when the Kuomintang military and political personnel retreated from Linquan, Bai Chongxi appointed Li Jinsheng as deputy commander of the "Northern Anhui People's Self-Defense Corps." After the liberation of Linquan in August 1947, Li Jinsheng successively organized more than 2,000 bandits together with Luo Rui and Zhang Jinhong, Li Jinsheng served as deputy commander, Li Junjie served as chief of staff, and the corps was organized into three detachments, Li Jinsheng concurrently served as the head of the first detachment, Shui Jimin served as the leader of the second detachment, and Xu Minghuan served as the commander of the third detachment. The activities are in Linquan, Xincai, and Xi counties, close to more than 200 villages on both sides of the Honghe River. Guo Dan was the leader of the guerrilla forces, and the actual command was in the hands of Li Jinsheng. Li led the guerrillas everywhere to kill people and set fires, trampling on the people, and at the same time confronting the People's Liberation Army.
At the end of 1947, in a village near Youdianqiao, there was a family of 17 people, and he killed 18 of them, and even a relative who came to visit was also killed by him. In a village north of Chen Ji, a family of eight people was killed by him, and only one child who went to his grandmother's house remained. In April 1948, Li killed Chang Haizhou, the head of Youdianqiao Village, and Ma Fangting. In June of the same year, he killed seven members of our noon expedition team. There are 43 well-documented deaths killed by Li Jinsheng, including 16 from the People's Liberation Army, 8 from the village head, 12 from the militia, and 7 from the common people. At the same time, between 1947 and 1949, Li Jinsheng led his guerrillas to rob more than 150 villages, forcibly distribute money to 43 villages, plunder more than 5,000 yuan in silver dollars, more than 1 million yuan in paper money, and rob more than 300 ploughing cattle, 34 horses, 8 mules, 54 donkeys, more than 400 pieces of clothing, and countless cloths and cotton. More than 40 women committed adultery. In addition, he secretly colluded with the head of Yanji Township to instigate a rebellion in an attempt to overthrow our people's power.
Li had fought against the People's Liberation Army many times in Taoyuhuang Temple, Zhuji, Zhangji, Chen Xiezhuang, and on both sides of the Honghe River.
Scattered and absconded. In the autumn of 1948, the bandits in Linquan County had been basically wiped out by the People's Liberation Army and the people's armed forces, but Li Jinsheng still gathered more than 2,000 bandit guerrillas and entrenched himself in the area around the Chenjihong River. In order to safeguard the safety of people's lives and property and consolidate the people's political power, the four divisions of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) decided to eliminate this huge group of bandits.
At the end of November 1948, Commander Song Wen of the 4th Sub-district convened an operational meeting in Fanyingzi with the responsible persons of the Linquan County Brigade, the Quanyang County Brigade, the Quannan County Brigade, the Xincai County Brigade, and the guard battalion of the military sub-district to study in detail the combat plan for eliminating Li Jinsheng's giant bandits. At that time, most of the more than 2,000 bandits led by Li Jinsheng gathered in Chenji Street, and their targets were concentrated. The battle meeting decided to adopt the tactic of digging out the heart, surround the bandits scattered in the nearby villages without attacking them, concentrate their forces on attacking Chen Ji, and pull out Li Jinsheng. After the meeting, Commander Song Wen commanded more than 1,000 people from the four county brigades, the guard battalion of the four divisions, and the cavalry company of the four divisions, and quickly surrounded Chen Ji.
The Linquan County Brigade surrounded the east of Chen Ji and attacked the south gate. The rest were under the unified command of Comrade Song Wen. After dark, the fourth company of the Linquan County Brigade first launched an attack and attacked the south gate, Comrade Wang Haijin, the commander of the fourth company, led a platoon, and Comrade Ma Diansheng, deputy commander of the fourth company, led the second platoon, divided into two roads, like two sharp swords straight into the enemy's heart, quickly attacked the set, and fought until the north gate of Chenji. Comrade Pang Xinkuan, deputy instructor of the Fourth Company, led three platoons to respond at the south gate. The bandits in Chenji were panicked, and they fled to the northwest from the west gate without a fight. Chen Ji was quickly captured. A total of more than 200 enemy men were captured, more than 2,000 were defeated, and one 82 mortar, two light machine guns, and more than 400 long and short guns were captured. Li Jinsheng absconded in the chaos.
Captured alive. In order to arrest Li Jinsheng and bring him to justice, in November 1949, the Linquan County Brigade held a training class for enemy and puppet personnel to take off their hats in the Nantou Village of Chenji Street. Thirty-five people, including Zhang Huatang and Li Jinyu, attended the training class. Comrade Tao Zhiyuan, deputy head of the county brigade, first explained to the enemy and puppet personnel the excellent situation in the whole country at that time: The People's Republic of China had been founded, the whole of China had been basically liberated, the Kuomintang had completely collapsed, and Chiang Kai-shek had been driven to the island of Taiwan. The enemy and puppet personnel are required to have a clear understanding of the situation, discard illusions, change their ways, be new people, honestly explain their problems, and strive to take off their hats. He also pointed out that the party's policy is: the first evil must be dealt with, the cooperation will never be asked, meritorious service will be atoned, and great meritorious service will be rewarded.
The enemy and puppet personnel who participated in the training class began to feel depressed and worried, and they did not dare to expose Li Jinsheng's problems and were afraid of retaliation. After explaining the situation and policies, they gave a preliminary explanation of the problem and handed over 30 guns of various kinds and more than 200 rounds of ammunition. Later, he further explained the organizational system of the unearthed bandit guerrillas and the list of Kuomintang organizations and party members around Chen Ji, and then explained that Zhang (name unknown), secretary of the Kuomintang district department, Zhang Jiren, was a soldier in the county brigade at that time. After Comrade Tao Zhiyuan found Zhang and repeatedly explained to him the party's policy, Zhang confessed that he had joined the Kuomintang, and that Zhang Ruizhou of Zhang Ji had made him the secretary of the district department, and at the same time confessed the list of Kuomintang members of Zhang Ji. But Zhang said that he did not know the whereabouts of Li Jinsheng at all.
Through investigation and analysis, it was believed that Li Jinsheng's younger brother Li Jinyu was likely to know Li Jinsheng's whereabouts, so he talked to Li Jinyu and once again explained the policy of "the first evil must be dealt with, the cooperation will never be asked, the meritorious service will atone for the crime, and the great meritorious service will be rewarded". After Li Jinyu relieved his ideological concerns, he confessed that the bandit leader Li Jinsheng was hiding in Xiaoli Village, Erli Road, south of Dancheng, Henan, and that there was a wheat pole stack in front of the village, and there was a hole in the ground under the stack, and Li Jinsheng was hiding in the hole. At the same time, Li Jinsheng was found to have two shell guns on his body. Tao Zhiyuan said: "Okay, the information you provide us with is very important, and I praise you on behalf of the party organization." I hope what you say is not a lie. Li Jinyu said: "As long as you find this village, if you can't catch Li Jinsheng in the cave under the battlement, you can kill my head when you come back." There is only one straw stack in front of this village, and if there are two, it will not be this village. At the end of December, the county brigade sent Ma Diansheng, deputy commander of the fourth company, to bring four soldiers to Xiaolizhuang in the south of Dancheng City, braved the heavy snow, found the wheat pole stack, found the hole of the hole, quickly surrounded the wheat pole stack, and shouted to Li Jinsheng in the cave: "Li Jinsheng, you are surrounded, come out quickly! Otherwise, we will throw grenades into the hole! Quickly throw out the two pistols!" When Li Jinsheng heard the shout, he panicked, he never expected that he would be found hiding here. After Ma Diansheng's repeated shouts, Li Jinsheng was forced to throw two finished pistols out of the cave and move his trembling body to the entrance of the cave. Since then, Li Jinsheng has been brought to justice and arrested alive.
After the news of Li Jinsheng's capture came out, the people in the Chenji area all rushed to tell each other, clapped their hands, and demanded to get rid of this pest. The petitions and complaints submitted by the masses who were ravaged and persecuted by him flew like snowflakes to the district and township governments, and more than 500 copies were sent to the county governments. On the basis of the materials exposed and complained by the masses, the Linquan County People's Government and the Linquan County Court promptly filed a case to verify the crime, sentenced Li Jinsheng to death on January 4, 1950, and reported it to the Fuyang Commissioner's Office for approval. On March 12 of the same year, Li Shizhuang, commissioner of the Fuyang Public Office, instructed the Linquan County Government to shoot Li Jinsheng on the spot.
In mid-March, the county government and the county court held a mass meeting of 10,000 people in Chenji to conduct a public trial of Li Jinsheng, the leader of the giant bandits. Comrade Shen Yi, deputy county magistrate, announced Li Jinsheng's crime. Li Jinsheng confessed. Then Comrade Tao Zhiyuan, deputy political commissar of the county brigade, announced: "Drag Li Jinsheng down and shoot him!" Li Jinsheng immediately struck the top like a huge thunderbolt, his legs trembled, and his body was like a puddle of mud, and he was paralyzed to the ground. This bandit leader, known as the "black dog spirit," usually kills people without blinking an eye, and when he dies, he turns out to be a ghost who is afraid of death! Comrade Ma Diansheng carried Li Jinsheng in his hand and pulled him to the east of Chen Ji, holding a gun in his hand and firing two "bang, bang" sounds, thus ending the criminal life of this bandit leader.
