Police said there was a crash in Welland, Ontario earlier this week. It is reported that a school bus collided with other cars, and then the driver of the school bus drove away. The wheels of the school bus were knocked off, and there were children sitting on the bus at the time.
Police said the crash occurred Wednesday morning in the Canal Bank Street and Ontario Road areas of Welland.
Authorities said the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision with the school bus, a 47-year-old woman, needed help from the fire department because of the severe damage to the vehicle. She was later taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the accident, police said they were starting to receive reports from the public that a three-wheeled school bus was heading north. The wheels have all flown one, and the ones that still insist on driving on the road are also cows.
Police then located the bus on Prince Charles Drive near Thorold Road. According to police, the school bus was carrying four children. All were assessed on-site but did not require hospitalization.
Police said both vehicles were badly damaged and towed away from the scene.
Police have not released the name of the school bus driver. He was identified as a 77-year-old man from Fort Erie. In addition to failing to stay at the scene of the collision, which involved Hit and Run, he was also charged with careless driving.
Ontario school buses have been experiencing frequent accidents recently. In December last year, a school bus accident in Ontario caused many deaths.
On December 20 last year, a major car accident occurred in the Caledon area of Ontario, where a school bus and an SUV collided, killing two people and injuring three others.
According to Ontario police, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Heart Lake Road between Mayfield Road and Old School Road. A passenger car and a school bus collided.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while others were taken to hospital with injuries, officials said. An adult male in his 20s later died in hospital from his injuries. A total of 2 people died. Police said the bus driver suffered minor injuries. At the time of the accident, there was a child in the school bus.
The accident caused the school bus to get bogged down in a ditch on the east side of Heart Lake Road, and police were evaluated at the scene and were not injured.
Going back further, in May this year, the school bus collided with other vehicles, and the tragedy of the driver both killing is still vivid.
At around 7 a.m. on May 30 last year, an Ontario Provincial Police car and a school bus collided at an intersection in Oxford County, Ontario, killing both the officer driving the police car and the driver of the school bus. In the aftermath of the tragic accident, local residents appealed to the city government to rectify the intersection. Because of the long time of the accident at the intersection, there is more than that.
The accident occurred in a car accident in the northwest of Woodstock, Ontario, killing two people, including a police officer on duty.
Ontario police said an unmarked OPP vehicle collided with a school bus at the intersection of Highway 59 and Oxford County Highway 33 at around 7 a.m. on the day of the incident. Both drivers died in the accident. Police said there were no passengers in either vehicle at the time.
One of the victims has been identified as a 35-year-old police officer.
Police said the officer had worked in the OPP unit and was assigned to the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit "We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident and both families are mourning the loss. My deepest condolences go to the affected families, friends, and colleagues," said OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique.
Similarly, in June last year, a school bus carrying 32 children crashed into a car outside Hamilton, Ontario.
