The ingredients were also bought online two days in advance, just waiting for the weekend to start, and in order to match the hot pot, I also specially ordered two cups of milk tea shop, which is also the first cup of milk tea in 2024. In fact, it is very cheap for two people to eat hot pot at home.

I am from Hubei and like to eat spicy, and my girlfriend is from Guangxi and don't eat spicy. Our tastes are diametrically opposed, and sometimes I wonder why two people with such opposite habits can get along so well. Maybe it's more about being inclusive and respecting everyone's tastes. She doesn't eat spicy, I cook tomato hot pot, I eat spicy, I just mix spicy ingredients. Living together means that two people are considerate of each other and tolerate each other.

Eating hot pot at home doesn't have as many seasonings as outside. I prepared some coriander, minced garlic, sesame paste, and Lao Gan Ma at home, light soy sauce, and vinegar. I think these small ingredients are enough, sometimes don't be greedy, a few simple seasonings can make your favorite flavor.
Life requires a sense of ritual
Even though I eat hot pot at home, I still prepare a lot of side dishes. I'm a person who doesn't bother too much, and I think that since I have prepared and done it, I should do one thing well, instead of perfunctory, so perfunctory is just myself.
I prepared 15 dishes, each of which was not much, but I could taste a lot of flavors. There are bell rolls, fat beef rolls, pea tips, oyster mushrooms, frozen tofu, kelp sprouts, fried tofu, potatoes, corn, tomatoes, ham sausages, beef balls, shrimp dumplings, lobster balls, and sausages.
15 dishes to eat is super satisfying. It feels much better than eating outside, maybe two people can order up to 8 dishes outside, which is already two or three hundred. A little more is more than that.
I like to prepare all the dishes, cut them and set them on the plate, and eat which ones are hot and which ones I want. There are many styles to prepare, and there are many choices. Prepare a little bit of everything, and you won't be overwhelmed. This is also my sense of ritual about life.
