"If you don't read Huayan, you don't know the wealth of Buddhism", have you read all the "Huayan Sutra" completely, maybe you will say that the "Huayan Sutra" has a vast 80 volumes, and you can't read it at all for a month, which is really prohibitive. Master Hongyi, a senior monk of the Republic of China, has long known that many people will say this, and he extracted some of the essence of the "Huayan Sutra" and collected it into the "Huayan Collection of Three Hundred", which is like opening a door, leading everyone to open the wonder and beauty of Huayan.
In 1929, in order to commemorate his mother's 70th birthday, Master Hongyi took the essence of the Huayan Sutra and recomposed it into catchy and profound couplets. Upon learning of this, his disciple Liu Zhiping found more than 20 ingots of Chen Mo in the Qianlong year, and offered them to Master Hongyi to write these couplets, which took half a year to complete.
Today, let's first appreciate the essence of the Huayan Sutra from the 20 verses, and perhaps you will find in it the "motto" of a lifetime of practice, which will sound a wake-up call for us when we are slacking off and when we are confused.
Cut off afflictions, have sufficient bodhi, always have righteous thoughts, and practice great compassion
Seeing the law is like an illusion, entertaining yourself with the Tao, and getting out of the love prison forever
Dwelling in the deep Dharma nature is good, the roots are deep, the merit is deep, and the supreme coolness is supreme
Words must not be vain, the mind is separated from what is not, all wisdom is hidden, and there are immeasurable sentient beings
Shame is a deep trench, wisdom is like a vajra, always keep pure vows, and should give birth to joy
Go deep into the sea of wisdom, swim in the door of liberation, and his heart will not be tired of compassion in the world
If the dream is not real, if you practice without me, there is nothing to achieve and great compassion will be great
Live in the cool and wise, forever away from troubles, never let the body be forever from all dramas, and reciprocate in the Buddha's grace
When cultivating the sea of merit, we should never leave the greedy heart, so that all sentient beings can be happy, and we can repay the master's kindness
Like the wind swimming in the void, what you do is barrier-free, away from delusions, and follow all beings
There was no suffering, and I decided to become a bodhichitta and I was happy, and the Buddha was pure and bright
May the door be vast and inconceivable, compassion is universal, and the void sees the Buddha at ease, rejoices, and dedicates the heart to the fun Bodhi
Great sorrow saves everything, wonderful sound speech is all over the ten directions, can be fearless to all beings, and make the world enlightened
The precepts are the supreme bodhi of the Buddha, for all the lamps of wisdom, away from all the ease, and when the supreme bodhichitta is born
Then keep the pure precepts, follow the orthodox religion, spread the light to all sentient beings, be happy, be soft, endure humiliation, and settle down in compassion and joy
Universalize all good knowledge, aspire to the supreme Buddha, Bodhi, and eliminate all sufferings, and all blessings are solemn
The fragrance is pervasive in everything, great compassion is broadened, all beings are often pure, and Bodhi is willing to be dignified and good
Born to me, wisdom, argument and ability, not to be smeared with eight difficulties, all victories and blessings are accomplished, and the three poisonous obstacles are completely eliminated
Pujing Fuhai removes all suffering, widely says that the Buddha, Taoism, enlightenment, all living beings, and the troubles of the world are exhausted, and the bodhisattva's merits are boundless
Develop the sea of wisdom of sentient beings, and see the pure body
Illuminate all foolishness and darkness can be the supreme wisdom lamp, because of the combination of Master Hongyi's Dharma cultivation and calligraphy skills, there is this set of "Huayan Jilian Three Hundred". In this set of works published in 1931, Master Hongyi wrote a preface by himself, frankly saying that "it is not appropriate to divide the scriptures and collect them into couplets". Venerable Hongyi, who has always been known for his strict precepts, knows, "This is a dangerous matter, and there is more harm than good, so I send a message to future sages and do not continue." If you are not careful, you will become a serious culprit for slandering the law." But why would he do it?
In the preface, Venerable Hongyi said, "I hope that those who will see the union will recite and study the Huayan Ceremony with the intention of reciting and studying the Huayan Ceremony, and take the collection of the union as the cause to enter the Bilu Yuan Mansion, which is what You Yu wants." ”
