There are nine foods in the world, four to give up and five to seek

In Buddhist culture, food has the meaning of long-term nourishment and wealth, which is very consistent with modern cognition, including both material and spiritual aspects.

There are nine types of food, namely: section food, touch food, contemplative food, knowledge food, Zen pleasure food, Dharma joy food, willing food, thought food, and liberation food.

Segment eclipse: Eaters who are crushed in different time periods. With the fragrance touching the three as the body, it will become bad in the abdomen, and it will benefit the roots. That is, what we call ordinary foods, such as rice, noodles, oil, fruits and vegetables, etc.

Touching food: The six senses touch the one who gives birth to joy in the lovely environment and nourishes the body and mind. That is, the six senses of the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind, and the consciousness of the previous life that comes into contact with the external environment have the purpose of nourishing the body and mind. Such as black and white, soft and hard, cold and warm, good and bad, etc.

Thinking about food: Consciousness thinks about good things and is happy, and benefits the roots. That is, the state of consciousness and thought, hoping that they can develop to the good. In the event of a disaster, if a person has a strong sense of survival, he will have a better chance of surviving.

Knowledge: The beings of hell and the sentient beings of the colorless realm, etc., who hold the root of life with knowledge. According to the power of the first three foods, the three karma of thought, language, and behavior are generated, and the karma is retributed, forming the power of reincarnation after death, and maintaining the continuous flow of life.

Zen Food: Those who practice the joy of meditation and can nourish the roots. That is, to use the Zen method to fund their minds and get Zen pleasure, that is, to increase the good roots, to benefit the wisdom of life, like the food of the world, can raise the roots, support their lives, so it is called food.

Dharma Joy Food: Those who practice the Dharma are happy when they hear the Dharma, and those who are wise enough to nourish their body and mind. Listening to the scriptures and hearing the Dharma can increase people's wisdom, open their minds, and benefit the roots of goodness.

Wish to eat: The practitioner vows to hold on to the body, and cultivates ten thousand practitioners. That is, the practitioner makes a great wish to benefit sentient beings, stop troubles, realize the truth, hold on to oneself with oneself, and always practice pure conduct.

Meditation: Cultivators often recite the good roots of birth, and do not forget to benefit those who are wise and wise. That is, the practitioner has clear mindfulness, remembers the good Dharma, believes in and pursues it, does not turn his mind upside down delusions, does not make separate calculations, does not cling to attachments, and is able to transcend afflictions.

Liberation Food: A practitioner who eventually attains the bliss of nirvana and nourishes his body and mind. That is, the practitioner is free from the bondage of negative karma and attains the ultimate perfection of liberation.

There are nine foods in the world, four to give up and five to seek

The first four are called worldly foods, and the last five are worldly foods.

The Buddhist scripture "Ahama Sutra" says: When he concentrates on abandoning the four kinds of food in the world, he seeks to make the food of the world, and he makes all sentient beings use the food of the world to nourish the body, and should not be greedy, but must seek the Dharma food of the world and increase the life of Bodhi wisdom.

In other words, the food in the world is mainly used to survive, and it can only enrich the body, and sentient beings should not covet its color, fragrance, etc. and become greedy.

What sentient beings should really pursue is spiritual food on earthly food, because it can sublimate our minds.
