According to the Pentagon, missiles have been fired at eight Houthi rebel targets in Yemen and attacks on Red Sea transit tankers and merchant ships have been reciprocated.

Since mid-November, the group has carried out more than 30 attacks on the Red Sea Channel and has vowed to continue attacking ships bound for Israel.

In a joint statement issued by the United Kingdom, Australia, Bahrain, Canada and the Netherlands, the allies declared that the military "will not hesitate to defend life" and the free movement of commerce in the region.
