At 12 o'clock on January 10, a fishing boat loaded with live grouper from Taiwan arrived at the docking point of the Taiwan Ferry Wharf in Dongshan Port, Fujian. This is the first batch of live fish imported from Taiwan to the mainland since the suspension of cross-strait fresh aquatic product routes in June 2022.
It is understood that on the evening of the 9th, the Taiwanese live water fishing boat, loaded with 23.96 tons of fresh grouper, set off from Kaohsiung and arrived at Dongshan Port in Fujian Province after 19 hours of sea voyage.
"The two sides of the strait work together and have the opportunity to return to the mainland market today, and I think Taiwanese fishermen are very moved. Huang Yicheng, chairman of the Taiwan Cross-Strait Agricultural and Fishery Exchange and Development Investment Association, said that 80% of Taiwan's grouper is imported into the mainland market, especially at the end of the year, which also brings a very good news to Taiwan's aquaculture industry.
After the timely service of the joint inspection department of Dongshan Port, this batch of fresh grouper from Taiwan was quickly loaded onto an oxygen water truck and transported to the local aquatic product temporary farm.
"Now it is estimated that there will be about five voyages a week, about 20 voyages a month, mainly sold to first-tier cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, and Hangzhou. Lin Shuichun, general manager of Dongshan County Xinfa Trading Co., Ltd., said.
It is understood that due to the detection of illegal drugs in the fresh grouper imported from Taiwan, the cross-strait fresh aquatic product route was suspended in June 2022.
After a year and a half of rectification, this batch of Taiwan was imported into Dongshan for the first time yesterday and sent to major markets this morning (11th).
