BYD is undoubtedly at the top of the list, with 340178 units sold in December, up 45% year-on-year. Its main model, the Dynasty + Ocean series, blossomed in many places, and Denza Auto also continued to sell well in December, selling 11,929 units, a year-on-year increase of 98.8%, and sales nearly doubled. In addition, the high-end brand model Yangwang U8 sold 1,593 units in December, up 290.4% month-on-month, and the Formula Leopard car sales also performed well, with 5,086 units sold in December, up 712.5% month-on-month. These two new cars will further help BYD expand its market share and at the same time strongly help the brand to improve.
The second place is SAIC-GM-Wuling, and Tesla is pressed behind, which is probably something that many people have not expected. In December, SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 117533 vehicles wholesale, of which the main contributor was Wuling Xingguang, which sold 16,864 vehicles in the month of listing, and ranked second in the sales of plug-in hybrid models within 150,000 yuan. At the same time, the third-generation macaron model also sold more than 25,000 units within 45 days of its launch. In addition, although the popularity of Wuling Hongguang MINIEV has declined compared to previous years, it also sold 237863 units throughout the year.
Tesla China ranked third, with wholesale sales of 94,139 units in December, up 14% from November. Overall, in 2023, 1739707 Model 3 and Model Y deliveries totaled, accounting for 96% of total sales. If these two absolute workhorses can loosen up on price, the market performance may be even better this year.
Geely Automobile ranked fourth, which includes all Geely's new energy models, such as Lynk & Co, Zeekr, and Galaxy, the fifth is Changan Automobile, mainly due to the Qiyuan brand's December orders of 11,157 units and 6,926 deliveries, contributing a large increase, and the sixth is Li Auto, with sales of 50,353 units in December. With the launch of the new models Li MEGA and Li L6, the monthly sales of Li Auto may exceed 70,000 units in 2024. This is followed by GAC Aion, SAIC Passenger Vehicle, Celis and Great Wall Motor.
