A few days ago, at CES 2024, the Kia PV1 concept car was officially unveiled. The vehicle is based on Kia's new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) platform, and is aimed at the commercial market alongside the larger PV5 and PV7, with the PV5 production model set to start production in 2025, while the PV1 and PV7 production dates have not been announced.
The Kia PV1 Concept features a three-door layout, with the same design style as the PV5 and PV7, and its smaller body size will be suitable for use in small urban spaces. The PV1 Concept does not involve a driver's seat in the interior and provides a large storage space at the rear, indicating that the car may use autonomous driving technology to meet the needs of short-distance logistics scenarios in the city.
Unlike the PV1 concept, which is relatively limited, the PV5 and PV7 can be used in a variety of models suitable for different use cases, such as high-roof models, cargo models, taxis, and chassis vehicles. It is understood that in addition to confirming that the PV series models use pure electric power, the corresponding power and range information has not been announced. According to the brand's plan, the production of PBV platform models will be divided into three phases, the first phase is the start of production of the PV5 model, and a new plant for the vehicle in South Korea with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.
