Speaking of the name of Da Lou Mountain, you may be a little unfamiliar. However, when it comes to the place of Loushanguan, you must have heard of it, and the famous Battle of Loushanguan took place there. As one of the main mountain ranges in northern Qianbei, Da Lou Mountain not only has a dangerous terrain, but also has abundant vegetation, with more than 4,000 plant varieties alone, including some rare varieties, such as yew, privet tree, smiling flower, cycad and so on. And the protagonist introduced to you today is also a rare plant in Da Lou Mountain, which is the legendary "human fairy grass", a beautiful Chinese medicinal material, called clematis. So, what are the characteristics of this clematis? Let's find out.

Clematis is a typical subtropical plant that belongs to the category of Ranunculaceae. Its coverage is not very extensive, mainly concentrated in the southwestern part of the mainland, including the eastern part of Yunnan Province, the northern part of Guizhou Province, and a few areas of Sichuan Province. If divided according to growth Xi, clematis is a thoroughly feminine plant, it is naturally shade-loving and light-tolerant and heat-tolerant, and its habitat is mostly selected in warm and humid places, such as the bushes in canyons, the gaps in broad-leaved forests, and the shade of mountain slopes. In addition to the name clematis, it has many other names and common names, such as in Yunnan Province, people call it iron-footed fairy grass. In the area of Guizhou, Guangxi, the locals call it clematis.

In appearance, clematis have typical vine characteristics, its branches are thick and strong, the texture is flexible and soft, it has a certain climbing ability, and often attaches itself to other plants. However, unlike other vines, clematis never climb upwards, but instead maintain a lateral growth state, climbing from tree to tree, winding and rugged, like a green dragon. Its leaves vary greatly, with some varieties being oval and others lanceolate. Although the shape of the leaves is not very large, it has a flexible and soft texture. Especially in the middle of summer, the dense foliage clusters together and looks full of vitality.

In addition, the flowers of clematis are also very beautiful, it belongs to the umbrella-shaped inflorescence, the whole flower is composed of four or five petals, the petals are in the shape of a long strip, the texture is soft, the color is white, arranged in a radial pattern, and in the middle is a thin strand of stamens. On the whole, its flowers have both the purity and elegance of gardenia and the deep grace of jasmine, just like a fairy from outside the world, full of otherworldly temperament. Probably because of this characteristic, people call it "fairy grass in the world"!

The use of clematis in medicine first appeared in the Liang Dynasty's Yao Seng Tan's "Ji Xian Fang" during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and later included in the "New Repair of Materia Medica", and later in the Tang Dynasty's "Materia Medica". Some people say that it was inappropriate to first receive it in the "Kaiyuan Materia Medica", and its name is very effective because of its medicinal power. Just as the Qing Dynasty Huanggong embroidery said: "The prestige is its nature, the spirit is its effect, and the immortal is its divine ear." "Clematis is a health medicine.

"The Legend of the Clematis" cloud: "The clematis goes to the winds, passes through the twelve meridians, and the court clothes are dusk, and the human clothes are light and healthy, and the hands and feet are slightly warm." And recorded a story: there was a patient who suffered from hand and foot disease, "those who do not perform on the ground for decades, and good doctors cannot cure them." So his relatives put it on the side of the road and begged for help. One day, a Silla monk saw this and told him: "This disease can be cured with one medicine, but I don't know if there is one place in this land?" And describe the condition of the medicine. So he asked someone to go into the mountains to seek, and finally found it. This medicine is clematis. Walk for a few days after taking it.

Legend of the Clematis I:

Once upon a time, there was an ancient temple on a big mountain in the south of the Yangtze River, called Weiling Temple. There is an old monk in the temple, who is very famous for treating rheumatism and bone slag. When the old monk was curing the sick, he always burned incense and recited a mantra first, and then poured the incense ashes into a bowl of water for the sick to drink. Strange to say, the patient drank the fragrant ash water, and the pain was cured. The old monk said that it was saved by Lafayette's spell. Therefore, he not only cheated a lot of incense money, but also gained people's trust. It is said that the Buddha of Weiling Temple responds to all requests, and the old monk is a "living immortal".

In fact, the old monk's bowl of fragrant ash is not an ordinary tea, but an herbal soup that specializes in treating rheumatic pain and bone residue stuck in the throat. The old monk asked a little monk to fry this medicine in the secret room every day. In addition to decocting medicine, this little monk also had to cook on the fire and clean the yard every day, but the old monk still often beat and scolded him. The little monk was angry, so he thought of a way to trick the old monk, and when decocting the medicine, he deliberately replaced it with weeds that could not cure the disease at all.

On this day, the son of a hunter got his throat stuck in the flesh of a beast's bone. The hunter carried his son to the Welling Temple to find the old monk for treatment. However, the child drank the medicinal soup to no avail, and the animal bones were still in his throat, so that his face turned blue and he could not cry. When the old monk saw it, he was so anxious that he was sweating profusely, for fear of making a fool of himself on the spot, so he said to the hunter: "You must not be clean and offend the Buddha." Go ahead, the Buddha doesn't want to save your child!"

When the hunter walked out of the main hall with his dying son in his arms, the little monk chased after him from the back door with a bowl of medicinal soup and said, "The Buddha is not spiritual, take my medicine." The child drank the medicinal soup, and after a while, the bones of the beast melted. The child was saved, and the hunter thanked him repeatedly, and from then on, the old monk's incense ash water could no longer cure the disease, but more and more people begged the little monk to cure the disease. People say that the incense ash water at the front door of the Welling Temple does not cure the disease, but the medicinal soup at the back door cures the disease. One day, there was a woodcutter suffering from rheumatism who asked for medicine, and he forgot to go through the back door and ran directly to the main hall to find the little monk. At this time, the old monk suddenly realized that the reason for the failure of the fragrant ash water was the little monk. His face turned blue with rage, and his teeth rattled. But in front of the woodcutter, he was inconvenient to have a seizure, and hurriedly walked out of the main hall to find the little monk to settle accounts, but he didn't pay attention, lost his foot, fell down the steps, and fell to his death.

Since then, this little monk has become the presiding officer of Welling Temple. He planted a large number of herbs for rheumatism and bone dregs. Anyone who goes to Weiling Temple for medical treatment, the little monk does not take a penny. Because this herb comes from Welling Temple, and it is as effective as fairy grass in healing, everyone calls it "Welling Fairy".

Legend 2: Zhou Junchao of the Tang Dynasty said in "The Legend of the Clematis": There are people in Shangzhou who are seriously ill and unable to do so, and those who do not perform on the ground for decades cannot be cured by good doctors. and those who are placed by the way for help. When a Silla monk saw it, he said: This disease can be lived with a medicine, but I don't know if there is this land? Obey it, and be able to walk in a few days. Later, the mountain man Deng Siqi knew about it and passed on it.

The above miraculous story is about a person in Shangzhou in the Tang Dynasty, which is now Shangluo in Shaanxi, where a person had a serious foot disease and couldn't walk for decades. The family put him on the side of the road and sought a doctor who could heal him, and a monk from North Korea said, "You need a medicine to cure this disease, but I don't know if you have it in China." I went to the mountains to look for it, and finally found it, called clematis. After a few days of eating, you will be able to walk on the ground!

Legend 3: There is also a legend about the Clematis. According to legend, a long time ago, there was an ancient temple in the south of the Yangtze River called Weiling Temple, a large area of herbs was planted in the temple, this herb specializes in the treatment of rheumatism and bone stuck throat, all those who came to seek medical advice, the host was generously gifted, and did not charge a penny. Because this herb comes from the Welling Temple, and the cure is as effective as the fairy grass, the world calls it "Welling Fairy". In Li Shizhen's "Compendium of Materia Medica", there is a very detailed description.
