According to Mobile China, TCL launched 7 new smartphones at CES 2024, including the TCL 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G and TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G, two mobile phones equipped with paper-like screens, which are equipped with displays that can filter blue light and provide an e-reader-like visual experience. Both phones have versions with normal screens.

TCL's 50 series represents its fifth generation of smartphones, and it actually consists of 7 new phones, 5 of which will be available in the United States. Among them, the TCL 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G and TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G, which use the company's latest display technology, NXTPAPER 3.0, to filter blue light while creating a visual experience closer to that of an e-reader. It is important to note that this is not an e-ink display.
Both phones are also available in regular screen versions — the TCL 50 XE 5G with a 6.6-inch HD+ 90Hz display and the 50 XL 5G with a 6.8-inch FHD+ 120Hz display. Both phones come with 8GB of RAM and a 5,010 mAh battery, and TCL notes that the 50 XE 5G features a 50-megapixel triple camera system.
The TCL 50 LE is one of 5 models for the US market, similar to the XE 5G's 6.6-inch HD+ 90Hz display, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with 5G. In addition, the RAM has been reduced from 8GB to 4GB, and the battery capacity is only 4000mAh.
In addition to the above 5 models, TCL also launched two new phones, 50 SE and 50 5G, and the specific configuration of mobile phones has not yet been obtained in China.
