Friends who are familiar with Intel's product line know that in the last few generations of processors, Intel will launch a number of relatively cost-effective series customized for the Chinese market, including "Core i5-XX490F".
For example, the Core i5-12490F and Core i5-13490F (Figure 1) are still relatively popular in the market, and usually the box of these processors is black, so they are also called "black box versions".
Now that Intel has released the 14th generation Core processor, will Intel's previous style of play continue? Will there be a Core i5-14490F? I believe many friends are very interested in this issue.
Now the good news is here, the answer is yes, the legendary Core i5-14490F processor has been exposed recently, see Figure 2.
The parameters of the Core i5-14490F will be introduced first, but if you want to understand the details of this processor, you must also understand the differences between it and its siblings, including the Core i5-14400F and the previous generation Core i5-13490F, which will be explained below.

The standard operating frequency is 2.5 GHz, the maximum operating frequency is 4.7 GHz, and the power consumption is 65W.
The Core i5-14490F has not yet been released, and it uses a 10nm process, with 6 large cores and 4 small cores, a total of 10 cores and 16 threads, 9.5MB of L2-level cache, and 20MB of intelligent cache. The standard operating frequency is 2.5 GHz, the maximum operating frequency is 5.0 GHz, the power consumption is 65W, and the suggested retail price is unknown at this time.
Released on February 10, 2023, the Core i5-13490F uses a 10nm process and has 6 large cores and 4 small cores, a total of 10 cores and 16 threads, 9.5MB of L2-level cache, and 24MB of intelligent cache. The standard operating frequency is 2.5 GHz, the maximum operating frequency is 4.8 GHz, the power consumption is 65W, and the MSRP is $235.
The main difference between the Core i5-14490F and the Core i5-14400F is that its maximum operating frequency is 0.3GHz higher, which is 0.2GHz higher than the previous generation Core i5-13490F, and the intelligent cache is 4MB lower.
Of course, in this case, it is impossible to expect the Core i5-14490F to perform particularly well, but it is expected that the Core i5-14490F's performance will meet the needs of most users for everyday applications.
So, how to evaluate the Core i5-14490F and whether it's worth it? The most crucial factor will depend on the price. If the price is in place and the cost performance is high, then other problems can be ignored.
There have been no news about the price of this processor, and based on past experience, it is expected that the price of the Core i5-14490F will be slightly higher than that of the Core i5-14400F.
As for the official full specifications and final price of the Core i5-14490F, you don't have to wait long, and in the coming days, it will be released along with a number of other 14th Gen Core processors, and the final answer will be revealed soon.
Finally, I would like to add that Intel has launched a customized version for the Chinese market not only "Core i5-XX490F", but also a higher performance "Core i7-XX790F" series, such as Core i7-13790F (Figure 4), so will there be a Core i7-14790F?
