However, such a selfless devotee who gave up her small family for everyone was forced to die in a foreign country, and after her death, no one else mourned for her except her relatives, what a chilling thing.
In 1985, there were cases of HIV in every region of the world, which meant that AIDS had spread throughout the country, and HIV was also called the "plague of the 20th century".
The "AIDS blood disaster" in Henan occurred in the early 90s of the last century, due to the reform of the market economy and the growth of the rural population at that time, the phenomenon of more people living and less living in Henan Province appeared, and almost every household in the rural areas had surplus labor.
At that time, in order to prevent the introduction of AIDS, the mainland ordered to restrict or prohibit the import of blood products such as plasma and human albumin.
However, the demand for these blood products in the domestic market is very large, which leads to the phenomenon of short supply.
In order to solve this phenomenon, China ushered in the "plasma era". For a time, many bloody battles of all sizes were opened in various places, and each person who fought bloody battles was even more dense.
"If you want to be well-off, hurry up and sell plasma" At that time, selling plasma instantly became a quick and profitable business.
As long as you sell a tube of blood, you can earn 45-50 yuan, which is equivalent to the income of rural people sometimes for a month, so everyone has joined the ranks of selling blood.
Some people even donate blood multiple times a day without regard for their own lives.
At that time, every household in the rural areas of Henan had a surplus labor force, and the arrival of the "plasma era" was a timely rain for them, so everyone flocked to it.
In the face of so many blood sellers every day, more and more blood sales stations have been set up, and some merchants have directly renovated their cowsheds in order to save trouble.
A table was placed, cotton swabs were placed, a bottle of alcohol, a syringe was placed, a few nurses were put up, and a new blood station was erected.
At that time, both the merchants who bought the plasma and the ordinary people who sold the plasma were blinded by the immediate interests, and they only thought about how to make money, but ignored the most important safety issues.
Everyone seems to have forgotten that AIDS was also a great threat to people at that time.
Another point is that many people at that time did not have a comprehensive understanding of AIDS, and subjectively believed that the reason why people got this disease was because of inappropriate private life.
So at that time, many blood selling sites did not require blood sellers to do some tests in this regard before taking blood.
Wang Shuping, born in 1959, her parents are both doctors, and she has been influenced by the family environment since she was a child, and she longs to become an "angel in white" when she grows up, helping people in need.
So in 1983, after graduating from Henan Medical College, Wang Shuping became an ordinary medical worker.
She is kind and caring, and has a strong sense of responsibility for her work and patients, and is recognized by everyone as an excellent medical staff.
In 1991, she was assigned by her superiors to help in a "blood collection station" established by the Zhoukou Epidemic Prevention Station.
So when she worked in the "blood collection station" for a period of time, she found that there were great safety hazards in the "blood collection station" at that time.
First of all, in order to save costs, a needle will draw blood for multiple blood sellers in a row, and they do not have medical examination reports.
At that time, the vast majority of people used apheresis, that is, the collected blood was separated by a centrifuge to separate the plasma, and then the remaining red blood cells were transfused back into the body of the blood seller.
In this way, once a patient has an infectious disease, then other people can easily be infected as well.
However, at first, Wang Shuping was only worried, until one day she met a common man who came to sell blood, which made her decide to be a "whistleblower".
From 1993 to 1994, the plasma economy can be said to have reached its peak, with more than 230 blood collection stations in Henan Province and 39 in Zhoukou.
Henan's economy has also rushed up because of the "plasma age", but at the same time, AIDS in the whole province is also slowly multiplying.
One day in 1994, Wang Shuping was collecting plasma for blood sellers as usual, and at this time a person walked over, Wang Shuping didn't care about him at first, but when she touched his arm, she could clearly feel that the other party's body temperature was not normal.
So, she asked the other party if he was sick and unwell?
But the other party told her that she just caught a cold because she didn't cover the quilt the night before.
But Wang Shuping found that the other party not only had an abnormal body temperature, but also could be seen from his bare skin, as well as some pus.
Her heart chuckled, but because the blood collection station did not clearly stipulate that the blood seller needed to provide a health report, she still took blood for this person despite feeling uncomfortable.
Later, this matter always appeared in her mind, and safety hazards have always become a concern for her.
At that time, she paid special attention to other blood collection stations in the vicinity and found that each blood collection station had potential safety hazards.
She realized the seriousness of the matter, and if the problem was not resolved, then if something unexpected happened, the consequences would be unimaginable.
So, she wrote a letter overnight to report the problems she found to the local authorities, but the letter she sent was like a stone in the sea, and there was no news.
But that didn't make her give up, and in order to test her idea, she paid out of her own pocket to test the collected blood.
When she got the test results, she was stunned by the data in front of her! Because 62 of the more than 400 blood samples she tested showed AIDS.
She hurriedly took the data from these tests and approached the local health department, hoping that they could add a test process to the blood collection, but they refused.
Later, she did her best to educate the local people about the importance of safety and the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
But at that time, for these people who were already poor and afraid, illness was not terrible, poverty was really terrible.
The things she did did did not raise everyone's consciousness, but on the contrary, her actions touched their interests in the eyes of some people.
For a time, Wang Shuping was ostracized by everyone in the local area.
However, she didn't take this to heart, and at this time she was more concerned about how to solve the problem of safety risks.
So she brought 15 blood samples to Beijing, hoping to do an appraisal through a more authoritative department.
But when she came to Beijing, she found that it cost a lot of money to do a blood test here, but because she was in a hurry, she didn't have enough money with her.
And these blood must be tested within a certain period of time, otherwise it will be invalid, and there is no point in testing, for a while, she cried in the hospital in a hurry.
It was at this time that she met Zeng Yi, the chief expert in the hospital, who was mainly responsible for studying the epidemic in China.
After learning the purpose of Wang Shuping's visit to the hospital, he also realized the seriousness of this matter, so he decided to help her.
With the help of expert Zeng Yi, the 15 samples of blood brought by Wang Shuping were successfully tested.
When Wang Shuping got the data on the test results, she was shocked again that 13 of the 15 blood test results contained HIV, and two others were also suspected.
Wang Shuping decided to bypass the local Ministry of Health and report directly to the National Health Bureau, and after this time, her efforts finally paid off.
The state immediately carried out strict inspections of all blood collection stations, closed all those that did not meet the requirements, and required that blood sellers be tested before blood was drawn in the future.
In two years, the number of blood collection stations in Henan Province has been reduced from more than 230 to 23.
This incident set off a storm at the time, and Wang Shuping's name was also known by more people.
When Wang Shuping thought that this matter could be brought to an end, she was faced with a new problem.
At that time, the results of the data test report, some people wanted her to change the data in the report.
Wang Shuping naturally would not agree, because she knew that once the data was changed, then some of her previous efforts would be in vain.
So she refused without hesitation, and at the same time she paid some "price" for it.
First she was fired from public office, and her husband was also ostracized by everyone in the company because of her, and later because of her behavior, those who lost their interests would also come to her house from time to time to cause some damage.
In the end, her husband couldn't stand it anymore and chose to divorce her.
In 2001, Wang Shuping, who had been ostracized at every turn, came to the United States alone, the year she left her homeland, and the local AIDS crisis in Henan was finally recognized.
In 2019, she died of a heart attack in the United States, and she was only 59 years old when she left this world, but her departure did not make any waves in the world.
She was not paid any tribute except to her own relatives, nor was there any media to report on her, and she disappeared into this world silently.
