Before 2005, the Qingguanshan Plateau, which was more than 3 meters high and covered an area of nearly 16,000 square meters, was still a peach forest. In the spring of 2005, Chen De'an, then head of the Sanxingdui Site Workstation of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, conducted a comprehensive excavation of the Qingguanshan site and finally confirmed the foundation site of the Qingguanshan No. 1 large-scale building.
In December 2012, the successor stationmaster Lei Yu fully revealed the remains of Building No. 1 and confirmed its plane structure, shape characteristics and age of use.
In the follow-up archaeological exploration and excavation, archaeologists found that the large building of Qingguanshan No. 1 was not lonely, and two large buildings were found next to it. It can be confirmed that the site of Qingguan Mountain has always been a concentrated distribution area of high-grade buildings in the ancient city of Sanxingdui.

The large-scale building relics of Qingguanshan No. 1 are rectangular in plan, trending northwest to southeast, with a length of more than 65 meters, a width of nearly 16 meters, and an area of more than 1,000 square meters. It is also one of the largest single buildings of the Shang Dynasty ever discovered.
In the foundation site of the large building of Qingguanshan No. 1, archaeologists also found the remains of the passage through the hall, the east and west gates, single rooms, and wooden platforms. Scholars speculate that this may be the earliest and largest dry-bar pavilion building found in China so far, and its research restoration still needs to be further tested and demonstrated.

The foundation site of the large building of Qingguanshan No. 1 retains the platform foundation, wall foundation and densely distributed post holes. Scattered fragments of stone and ivory have been found on the surface of the foundation, which archaeologists speculate may be related to ritual acts during construction. The wall base plan is rectangular, including two circles inside and outside, which is mixed with red clay and pebbles, and its construction method is to dig the foundation groove downward after the foundation is built, and the foundation groove is filled with red clay and pebbles to form the wall foundation.
Qingguanshan No. 1 building is the first relatively complete large-scale architectural remains found in the ancient city of Sanxingdui, which was built around the middle of the Shang Dynasty, and is located at the highest point of the ancient city of Sanxingdui, which should be a special building related to the activities of the supreme ruler at that time. For its function, nature, there is no consensus in the academic circles at present, there are palaces, temples and treasury a variety of speculation, some scholars have linked the building with the Sanxingdui sacrificial pit unearthed research. With the in-depth development of the next archaeological work, it is believed that the mystery of its use will eventually be revealed.
