Nine New Jersey public schools were named the 2021 Blue Ribbon Schools in the United States, and it is reported that "Blue Ribbon" originated in 1982 and is one of the highest educational honors awarded by the US federal government, and it is also the highest honor that public and private primary and secondary schools in the United States can obtain.
According to nj.com, the award is based on the school's overall academic performance or progress in closing the achievement gap. This year, a total of 325 schools across the United States won awards.
Announcing the list of schools to be awarded, U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said, "This year's team of winners demonstrates that teaching and learning can go hand in hand and thrive when committed educators and school leaders create a vibrant, enthusiastic and encouraging school culture. ”
