The Final Fantasy 13 series may be remastered by SE

author:3DM Game Network

Originally released in 2009, Final Fantasy 13 marked the first time in the JRPG series that a mainline game had been divided into a trilogy. The trilogy, known as the "Thunder Legend", although it received good reviews, failed to become as popular as its predecessors.

This series of games also marks the first time that Final Fantasy has entered the HD era. While its poor response meant that SE largely ignored the trilogy, a new listing on SE's official website hinted that a Final Fantasy 13 remastered was in development.

The trilogy is currently playable on Steam, and similarly, Xbox users can experience Final Fantasy 13 through backward compatibility, but PlayStation doesn't have a similar option.

Since the PS4/PS5 bypasses the native backward compatibility with the PS3, the remastered version may bring the series back to PlayStation consoles. Interestingly, the Square Enix listing only lists the PC version as the only platform in the game development program.

Although the game already exists on this platform, the Steam version, how to put it, is really bad. A plethora of bugs, performance issues, and an unstable experience all make a strong case for a remaster, which also makes it possible to implement the original game on PlayStation.
