Walking into the village committee of Xiwei Village, Shantang Town, Qingxin District, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, newspapers and magazines such as "People's Daily", "Xinhua Daily Telegraph", "Nanfang Daily" and "Half Moon Talk" were neatly arranged on the newspaper racks, and from time to time villagers came in to read them.
Since January 1 this year, the Guangdong Provincial Foundation for Poverty Alleviation has launched a number of caring enterprises to participate in the "mainstream newspapers and periodicals to the grassroots" cultural public welfare poverty alleviation activities, donated books, newspapers and magazines to 16,449 administrative villages in the eastern and western regions of Guangdong, enriched the spiritual and cultural life of the grassroots people in underdeveloped areas, timely conveyed the party's policies and voices, combined poverty alleviation with the support of aspirations and wisdom, and helped Guangdong win the battle against poverty.
According to He Rihuo, director of the Comprehensive Department of the Guangdong Provincial Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, this activity has been carried out since 2017, and last year's book and newspaper gifts were for 2277 poor villages in Guangdong Province, and this year it has expanded to more than 16,000 villages. "We will continue to do this work in the future to benefit more grassroots people."
