Paper Mario: The Millennium's Gate will return on Switch next year, and while we've already seen some ratings online, now it's also getting a rating from the ESRB.

It is rated "E" and contains "mild fantasy violence" and "mildly suggestive themes", while also including "short flirtatious dialogues" and "exaggerated body proportions":

"It's an adventure RPG in which the player helps Mario rescue Princess Peach from an alien horde. As players traverse whimsical worlds, they interact with characters and engage in turn-based/puzzle battles with paper creatures. Players use a variety of attacks (e.g., boot stomping, hammer strikes, fireballs) against cartoon enemies that disappear into stars and coins. A few characters engage in short flirtatious dialogue (e.g., "Aren't you a model of a man";" Maybe if I ...... grabbed you and gave you a little sugar"), and/or designed with big/exaggerated proportions. ”

In contrast, Paper Mario: The Millennium Gate's original ESRB GameCube rating was also rated "E", i.e., "for everyone," and featured "mild cartoon violence" and "no interactive elements." The latest rating of the Switch version follows the ratings in Brazil and South Korea in October.

There is no specific release date for Millennium Gate on Switch, but hopefully this latest rating means it will be released as early as possible in 2024.
