At the age of 19, the barriers of marriage were placed in front of her. However, Qian Ying chose to disobey, stuck a pair of scissors into her neck, resolutely resisted the arranged marriage, and finally forced her parents to compromise and cancel the marriage.

In 1923, she entered the Hubei Women's Normal School. Here, her mind gradually awakened and she became an advocate of rebellion against the feudal system. In 1927, under the shadow of the White Terror, Chiang Kai-shek carried out a counter-revolutionary coup d'état and launched a brutal pursuit of the Communists. Qian Ying did not hesitate to join the Chinese Communist Party, and under the leadership of Liu Shaoqi and Tan Shoulin, she worked dangerously underground in Shanghai.

In this process, she and Tan Shoulin knew and fell in love, and the two red hearts blended in the flames of revolution. However, the trajectory of the revolution was destined to be bumpy, and in 1931, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions was destroyed, Tan Shoulin stayed behind to deal with the aftermath, and Qian Ying went to the revolutionary base in western Hunan and Hubei alone.

The injustice of fate caused the husband and wife to start the final parting on the revolutionary journey. Due to the betrayal of the traitor, Tan Shoulin was arrested, and finally died heroically in Yuhuatai at the age of 35. When the grief came, Qian Ying deeply regretted it and resolutely joined the revolution with the pain of losing her husband. In the revolutionary base areas of western Hunan and Hubei, she organized a guerrilla force and made tremendous contributions to the fight against the landlords' armed forces.

In April 1933, she was also arrested by the enemy, but her tenacity was admirable. In the face of the enemy's coercion, temptation and brutal torture, she repeatedly organized hunger strikes. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, under the pressure of the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, Qian Ying finally gained freedom.

In 1940, Qian Ying was transferred to the Southern Bureau and became Zhou Enlai's right-hand man. After the outbreak of the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, she led a series of patriotic and democratic movements, which was praised by Chairman Mao as "opening up a second front". After the founding of the People's Republic of China, she held an important position and became the "female baogong" in the party.

However, the ups and downs of fate did not end in her.

After the start of the ten-year movement, Qian Ying became the target of shock. On July 26, 1973, he died unjustly at the age of 70. This former red female general, who was wronged and persecuted in her later years, makes people suspicious.
