It is said that two days ago, a woman named Koh Ee Sian in Singapore was indicted for "mosquito breeding......

Mosquitoes aren't a good thing, but do anyone really break the law because of them?

Will it really be ...... in Singapore

In the last two years, Singapore has seen a severe outbreak of dengue fever.

Dengue fever, also known as broken bone fever, is a viral infection that is transmitted from mosquitoes to humans.

Common symptoms are high fever, headache, nausea and rash, most patients get better within 1-2 weeks, but some people develop severe dengue fever, which can be life-threatening in severe cases.

In 2022, more than 32,000 people were infected with dengue fever in Singapore, which is also the second highest figure in Singapore's history. In the past 2023, dengue fever is still raging in Singapore, and this summer, the mainland embassy in Singapore also issued a reminder for Chinese citizens to take precautions:

Avoiding mosquito bites is the most effective way to reduce the spread of dengue fever.

To this end, Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) has distributed a handbook on how to prevent mosquito breeding.

In May 2022, the National Environment Agency (NEA) discovered multiple outbreaks of dengue fever in a certain area, and two enforcement officers from the Environment Agency went to the area to inspect and found a large number of Aedes mosquitoes breeding in the toilet bowl of an apartment bedroom.

The aforementioned Ms. Koh Ee Sian, who lives here, lives in the next room, which she says is currently vacant and is being rented out.

Because she didn't come to this room to clean for a long time, she let the mosquitoes lay eggs in large numbers in the toilet water, and so many mosquitoes hatched.

In fact, the story has developed so far that it is just a misunderstanding caused by negligence in cleaning. But what Ms. Koh Ee Sian did next opened the eyes of the police.

When two law enforcement officers found mosquito larvae in a toilet, they asked her if she had any detergent that could be poured into the toilet to kill the larvae. As a result, Koh Ee Sian said that he believes in Buddhism and cannot kill, so there is no detergent at home......

The law enforcement officer asked again, then there is always boiling water in the house, right?

Koh Ee Sian pulled out another kettle and asked the law enforcement officers to boil the water themselves, stressing that they could not kill.

The law enforcement officers had no choice but to boil the water themselves, pour it into the toilet, and tell Koh Ee Sian to remember to flush the toilet after 15 minutes.

Law enforcement officers wanted to impose a fine of S$200 (about 1,076 yuan) on her, but Koh Ee Sian refused to pay the money.

She said eloquently, "I didn't raise these mosquitoes, I haven't been to this bedroom, I don't know anything, and I'm a victim if I live here!"

In the end, the two sides argued, and law enforcement officers had to take Koh Ee Sian to court.

In court, Koh Ee Sian said she had followed the NEA's guidelines, but it did not explicitly tell her that she needed to clean or maintain her toilets.

If the National Environment Agency doesn't say it, then of course the public doesn't know.

And she didn't allow mosquitoes to fly into the toilet bowl to breed at all, so she couldn't be responsible for these newborn mosquitoes.

Of course, if someone in the neighborhood is infected with dengue fever and is very sick, she is willing to take responsibility, such as locking up mosquitoes......

Hearing her defense, the judge was speechless, and the judge said that she blamed mosquitoes for all the fault. If everyone thinks like she thinks and feels that nothing is their responsibility, then mosquitoes will multiply and pose a danger to the whole of Singapore.

Considering that these mosquitoes can pose a serious and deadly threat to people, and considering Koh Ee Sian's stubborn and irresponsible behavior, she can be fined up to S$5,000 and imprisoned for up to three months.

But Nian was only a first-time offender, and in the end she was only fined S$1,400 (about 7,532 yuan).

Seeing this case, netizens were also speechless and ridiculed the lady:

So if she gets dengue, she has to stop her immune system from killing the dengue virus, so she can be considered to be sticking to her beliefs, right?
