"Southern Weekly conveys a kind of concern for society and the weak. I hope she can continue to care for the common people and stick to her humanistic feelings. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of Southern Weekly, Chen Xingjia, who was far away in Gansu, sent his blessings.
He said that for a long time, many young people have seen the light of hope for humanity through Southern Weekly, and "I wish her to maintain this light and continue to convey upward and warm strength to the younger generation."
Chen Xingjia was the secretary of the Badong County Party Committee of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province, and was elected as the "National Excellent County Party Secretary" in 2015. However, after he was included in the promotion of cadres, he chose to resign and devoted his main energy to the Shenzhen Henghui Public Welfare Foundation.
Over the past decade, he has appeared several times in Southern Weekly at different stages of his life. "Southern Weekly is like an old friend to me. ”
"In the great waves, I don't like or fear. Everything should be done, and there is no need to worry about it. He borrowed Tao Yuanming's poems to give to Southern Weekly, which was not confused, and at the same time inspired himself.
"Not confused, that is, not to be happy with things, not to be sad about yourself. Why don't you be confused, because there is a distant place in your heart that you want to go, and there is always a light in front of you to call. Chen Xingjia said.
The anger of a county party secretary
In Badong, and even in the whole of Hubei, Chen Xingjia is famous. With a series of unusual words and deeds, he has injected a new atmosphere of officialdom into this once national-level impoverished county.
As a cadre transferred from other places, Chen Xingjia struggled at the beginning of his work in Padang, where local cadres had an absolute advantage, and once faced a situation of internal and external troubles, so that his superiors and subordinates were worried about his safety.
In 2015, a speech titled "The Anger of a County Party Secretary" pushed Chen Xingjia, then the county party secretary, and his hometown in Badong, Hubei Province, into the whirlpool of public opinion. This speech, which caused great repercussions, came from the plenary (enlarged) meeting of the Badong County Commission for Discipline Inspection in March of that year, at which Chen Xingjia was angry at the various strange phenomena of the political ecology of Chen Ben.
"This is a sign that I am facing the corrupt gangs head-on, and the strength of the enemy is so strong that I have chosen to declare war openly and let 500,000 ordinary people stand behind me. ”
Southern Weekly was one of the first media to pay attention to Chen Xingjia.
On July 2, 2016, he published an article entitled "How Big an Official Is Counted: Chen Xingjia, Secretary of the National Outstanding County Party Committee", which disclosed many details of the bribery and bribery of officials in Padang. ”

In this struggle against corruption, Chen Xingjia put on a posture of fighting to the death, arrested as many as 87 corrupt officials and businessmen, and directly implicated 5 county leaders and 2 state leaders, which can be said to have reversed the political ecology of the county.
He has always been open to the media. He told a reporter from Southern Weekly that he had encountered a lot of "troubles" in his years as an official, and many people (officials) were afraid of reporters, so they asked public relations to withdraw their articles and prevent reporters from being allowed to go to the scene, "but in my case, it is completely reversed, and it is all public."
On June 30, 2015, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee commended 102 outstanding county party secretaries, and Chen Xingjia, secretary of the Badong County Party Committee, was among them. "A body of righteousness, a body of murder, a body of vitality. Fan Renfu, head of the third inspection team in Hubei Province, commented on him during his inspection in Badong.
Chen Xingjia also performed skydiving, sang and filmed MVs in order to endorse tourism in Badong County, and every time it set off heated discussions on the Internet. Some people questioned him as the secretary of the county party committee for self-hype and political capital.
Chen Xingjia once revealed to a reporter from Southern Weekend that he had considered inviting professional singers to sing the songs about Padang tourism, but the endorsement fee was 200,000 yuan. After he was awarded the title of "National Excellent County Party Secretary" in 2015, the local tourism bureau believed that with his popularity at that time, if he sang in person, he could save 200,000 yuan and may have a better publicity effect. As a result, after the MV he sang was launched, the number of hits reached 155,000 in one day.
"I don't need everyone's praise, I just want everyone to come to Patong to play, I don't want our beautiful Patong to be so lonely and beautiful. I don't care what people think of me. ”
The lifeblood of China's philanthropy is trust
On December 2, 2016, Chen Xingjia issued a farewell letter titled "Goodbye, My Padang" on WeChat Moments, announcing that he would leave office at the end of his term. His resignation came as a surprise to many as the Padang County Party Committee was re-elected.
"I can still be an official if I don't resign, what I do has greater social value, and the opportunity cost is worth it. Chen Xingjia told Southern Weekend that as an official who resigned after being promoted to a cadre, he did not regret his original decision, "I like myself very much at the beginning, and I fought for my ideals and enthusiasm." ”
On May 6, 2017, after half a year of silence, Chen Xingjia issued an article "Hello, My Second Half" through his WeChat official account, announcing the establishment of Shenzhen Henghui Public Welfare Foundation, which is committed to the serious illness relief and education care of children and adolescents in underdeveloped areas of China.
Soon after the foundation was founded, Southern Weekend reporters made a special trip to Shenzhen to observe Chen Xingjia's public welfare experiments up close. He told Southern Weekend that the foundation will select a poverty-stricken area as a pilot and cooperate with the local government, medical institutions and insurance companies through public welfare actions to achieve free medical care for all children with leukemia in the region.
"We find ways from the data, build a database on the information of the comprehensive treatment of childhood leukemia patients, and explore ways to help poor areas improve the treatment capacity of major diseases and improve drug policies from the three levels of patients, doctors and drugs. Chen Xingjia said, "This project has been valued and supported by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and the Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, and has now gone out of the experimental field of Heyuan, Guangdong." ”
In addition to paying attention to childhood leukemia in underdeveloped areas, in order to inspire children in remote mountain villages, Chen Xingjia also started the dream action of taking left-behind children in Qiandongnan mountain villages to see the sea, and the robin project that focuses on the mental health care of teenagers.
For these long-term public welfare projects, Chen Xingjia said, "Public welfare is not simply giving money, charity is about heart. So I want to not only give them material conditions, but also accompany them to grow up as much as possible. ”
In September 2019, at the second "China Philanthropy Media Scholarship Class" hosted by Southern Weekly, Chen Xingjia shared, "My current experience is that philanthropy should be like Xiaogang Village, becoming a pioneer and a test field. Among them, it is the test of one's own heart and one's own conscience. ”
Over the past 6 years since its establishment, Henghui Charity Foundation has received extensive support from all walks of life, and it took only 3 years from its establishment to becoming a national 5A-level public welfare foundation.
"The lifeblood of China's philanthropy is trust, and the image of a good official has helped me a lot in the past. People choose to trust me, and I will use it well. Chen Xingjia said.
