According to the Hangzhou TV Comprehensive Channel, nowadays, the privacy information of celebrities and Internet celebrities has become a "hot commodity" and has formed an industrial chain. Some sellers will sell celebrities' flight information at a clear price, and even their private information such as their address, ID number, and WeChat ID.
On November 7, 2023, the Fuyang Cyber Police discovered in their daily work that someone had set up a "personal information database" robot on overseas social platforms to sell citizens' personal information on a large scale.
After an investigation, the cyber police found that the hacker who infringed on citizens' personal information was surnamed Wei and was 19 years old. Wei continued to teach himself computer after dropping out of high school, and half a year ago he saw a message on an overseas social platform looking for cooperation in the "personal information database", thinking that this would not only see other people's personal information, but also make money, so he contacted the other party.
Soon the source code interface was provided, and Wei made his own "robot" that can automatically conduct paid transactions, which can be forwarded to various social groups in large quantities, especially the fan base of celebrities.
Yang Ming, a police officer from the Internet Police Brigade of the Fuyang District Public Security Bureau, introduced, "The information database contains a large number of celebrities and Internet celebrity data, and there are about 100 popular stars. All you have to do is enter a name and the associated data will be automatically returned. The more information you enter, the more accurate the information you provide. ”
With the successful realization of a large number of citizens' personal information transactions, Wei felt that the risk was very high. So he recruited two more transaction collectors and made a profit through virtual currency conversion, but finally at the end of November, the Fuyang Internet Police rushed to Guangxi and arrested three suspects, including the main culprit Wei, and criminal coercive measures have been taken.
It is understood that Wei has made a profit of more than 500,000 yuan in half a year, and the Internet police have obtained more than 80 pieces of citizens' personal information on the spot.
In fact, the news of celebrity information leaks has sparked heated discussions many times. Not long ago, five employees of the high-speed rail station were sentenced by the Nanhai District People's Court of Foshan City, Guangdong Province for the crime of infringing on citizens' personal information.
Since January 2019, defendant Chen and others have taken advantage of their positions as passenger clerks at railway stations to inquire about personal information such as the travel time, train number, and seat of the sales "star", and Chen has made a total profit of about 190,000 yuan. The court sentenced the defendant Chen and others to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from 9 months to 3 years and 8 months and a fine for the crime of infringing on citizens' personal information. After the first-instance judgment was announced, the defendant Chen and others appealed, and the appeal was finally rejected and the original judgment was upheld.
Zhong Qiwen, a judge of the Criminal Trial Division of the Nanhai District People's Court in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, said that if citizens illegally sell, provide or obtain communication content, credit information, property information and whereabouts information, more than 50 articles have already constituted a crime.
"According to the provisions of the judicial interpretation, criminal liability shall be pursued if the illegal gains reach more than 5,000 yuan, which is 10 times that of 5,000 yuan, that is, more than 50,000 yuan, which is a particularly serious circumstance. If it is a special practitioner who collects and processes personal information, the amount of illegal gains is calculated by half, and more than half of it meets the standard of aggravation. ”
According to the judge, in the trial process of relevant cases, service industries such as transportation, express delivery, accommodation, and intermediaries are the "hardest hit areas" for personal information leakage.
