In 755 AD, the Anshi Rebellion broke out. On July 15 of the following year, Tang Xuanzong fled to Maweiyi (23 miles northwest of present-day Xingping City, Shaanxi). The accompanying soldiers executed Prime Minister Yang Guozhong and forced Yang Yuhuan to commit suicide, which is known as the "Ma Weiyi Mutiny".

Speaking of Yang Guifei, many people will think of the little story of Xuanzong's fast horse luck and Li technique. Tang Xuanzong doted on Yang Guifei, she liked to eat lychee, everyone was familiar with the northern region there is no lychee, so in order to win the smile of the favored concubine, Xuanzong used the post house that transmitted documents and war information at that time to transport lychee, which was simply a red face and a disaster! Tang Xuanzong also valued his minister Yang Guozhong, so that the imperial court was black, and the people throughout the country continued to revolt.
In 755, the Anshi Rebellion broke out, and Xuanzong was forced to flee from Chang'an, Beijing, and when he arrived at Ma Weiyi, the soldiers mutinied, stipulating the execution of Yang Guifei and the traitor Yang Guozhong. Xuanzong had no choice but to give Yang Guifei to hang herself and execute Yang Guozhong. It is what is recorded in the history books, but is it really like that? There are many folk rumors, all of which say that Yang Guifei is not dead, what is the reason?
According to the account of "Zizhi Tongjian", Tang Xuanzong ordered the eunuch Gao Lishi to send Yang Guifei to the meditation hall to be hanged. After Yang Guifei died, he dug a pit next to the road and buried it in a hurry, and Xuanzong and his party fled west again. A year later, Xuanzong returned to Chang'an, Beijing, to prepare for a thick burial of Yang Guifei, but after digging open the old burial ground, Yang Guifei's body was not found, only Yang Guifei's lost sachets and socks were found. Xuanzong could only bury his clothes and build a mound for Yang Guifei.
It is for this reason that Yang Guifei's body was not found, so folklore legend tells that Yang Guifei did not die, but just escaped, and what is even more evil is that Yang Guifei did not live in the mainland again incognito, but just came abroad, saying that she still has a nose and eyes.
But what is surprising is that there is also a tomb of Yang Guifei in Japan, and it is not one, but two, one in Chomeiji Temple in Ogimachi and one in Kutsu. In an interview in 2002, the well-known Japanese movie star Momoe Yamaguchi also personally recognized: "I am the descendant of Yang Guifei. This lot of direct evidence shows that Yang Guifei did not die, but only crossed to Japan to the east, and this kind of name is just everyone's conjecture.
There is also an even stranger thing that is that the Chinese Taiwanese scholar Wei Juxian clearly put forward the theory that Yang Guifei went to the Americas in the book "Chinese Discover America". In the book, he confirmed that Yang Guifei did not die in Maweipo, but only took people to the sea by boat, rushed to the long Americas, and lived here.
This kind of statement is indeed too weird, to think of the Americas, it has to cross the Chinese Pacific Ocean, which was not practical in the Tang Dynasty. Such a term has so far been difficult to gain academic acceptance. There is still no accurate conclusion about where Yang Guifei's soul returns, and it needs to be further verified by scholars!
