Q: Development board mounts and spacers
Development boards are widely used in many different applications, but many customers have questions about them. This article aims to answer some of the most frequently asked questions.
01 Type
Gaskets and supports
When differentiating between a spacer and a support, you usually think that the support has threads and the spacer does not. This conclusion is true for many parts in this category, however recently we have found that some manufacturers refer to their support products as "threaded spacers" to blur the sub-definition. When searching on the DigiKey website, the easiest way to sort is to first select what you want or not.
02 Mother
The following quick picture guide shows the different males and females that the supports contain.

Development board height
This measurement can sometimes be confusing. If you are looking at a female-to-female support or spacer, the value will refer to the overall height. In male-to-male or male-to-female supports, this value refers to the height of the non-threaded part.
