Yesterday, it ushered in a rebirth - the new Zijin Bridge was officially opened to traffic.
In July 2020, the Xin'anjiang Reservoir ushered in the first nine-hole full flood discharge since its construction 61 years ago, and the Jiande Zijin Bridge, the first highway bridge less than 2 kilometers away from the dam and the high-water flood route, also ushered in a "life and death test".
In the photos taken at the time, the clear and turbulent flood water was rolling in, and almost the entire bridge was submerged, which made everyone sweat.

However, the bridge, which did not look robust, eventually survived the entire process of the nine-hole flood, but it was also "scarred": the bridge was permanently offset by 2.5 centimeters due to long-term overloading, making it difficult to continue its mission.
Jiande Zijin Bridge was completed in 1990, located about 1.5 kilometers downstream of Xin'anjiang Reservoir and about 4.5 kilometers upstream of Jiande City, connecting Baisha in the north and Zhujiabu in the south.
On November 1, 2020, the demolition of the old Zijin Bridge began, and the demolition was completed by the end of December, and the construction of the new Zijin Bridge began on October 15, 2021, and after 25 months of hard work, it was opened to traffic on November 15, 2023.

The total mileage of the Zijin Bridge reconstruction project is 0.498 kilometers, and the main bridge adopts a 2×115-meter single-tower double-cable-stayed bridge, with a tower height of 75.3m, a beam length of 230 meters, and a bridge deck width of 14 meters. The bridge adopts the two-way two-lane three-level highway standard, the design speed is 40 km/h, the tower is divided into three sections, the middle and lower tower section is gradually closed, and the upper tower column is slightly expanded, and the overall tower column is like a jade drop bottle standing on the river surface.

According to reports, the new bridge increases the water height by 0.5 meters on the basis of the maximum water level of 34.33 meters during the flood discharge of the nine holes, forming a design elevation of not less than 34.83 meters at the bottom of the beam. On the basis of the 32.60 meters of the old bridge, the height is increased by 2.25 meters, which meets the safety and load level of the "once in a hundred years flood discharge" standard, and can resist the flood discharge of nine holes.
Its opening to traffic not only solved the bypass of the people in the main urban area of Jiande for more than two years, but also played a role in improving the regional road network of Xin'anjiang Reservoir and broadening the urban development space.
Also opened to traffic yesterday was the Jiande Tongxi Bridge located at the mouth of the three rivers (Xin'an River, Fuchun River, Lanjiang River).
The bridge is located at the intersection of the Sanjiang Estuary, which is a control and key project for planning S311 Provincial Highway to cross the Lanjiang River in Jiande.
The total length of the bridge is 1.9 kilometers, and the main road section adopts the standard design of two-way four-lane first-class highway, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, and an estimated total investment of about 372 million yuan. The project has two bridges with a total length of 925 meters, of which the Tongxi Bridge across the Lanjiang River is 745 meters long and the Puhou Bridge is 180 meters long.
After the completion of the Tongxi Bridge, it not only improved the skeleton structure of the main road network in Jiande City, facilitated the transportation of the masses on both sides of the strait, but also effectively connected the tourism resources of Qiantan Town, Dayang Town, Meicheng Town and Sandu Town, and promoted the rapid development of regional tourism economy such as "Two Rivers and One Lake" Scenic Area and "Meicheng, a thousand-year-old ancient mansion".
