The United States opened up a second battlefield and took the lead in "issuing a war letter" against Russia, but it did not expect that India would sit in the enemy's house in the next second, and it was time for Biden to feel uncomfortable.
Recently, with the gradual reduction of US and Western aid to Ukraine, the heat of the Russia-Ukraine conflict has decreased significantly. Perhaps the outside world will think that the Biden administration's special appropriation for Kyiv has not been approved by the US Congress, in a sense, it has already declared Ukraine's defeat in this conflict in disguise. Therefore, the United States simply did not pretend, bluntly saying that after providing a new round of military aid to Ukraine this month, if Congress has no follow-up financial support, it means that the aid to Kyiv will end here. In this context, there is no need for the United States to invest too much energy in the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield, it is time to take a break to open up a second battlefield and continue to compete with Russia.
According to the U.S. State Department, the U.S. government recently issued a statement unilaterally announcing the expansion of its sovereignty claims over the outer continental shelf in the Arctic and large areas of the Bering Sea. The total area of the claimed continental shelf is about 1 million square kilometers, about twice the size of California. In this regard, the US side believes that the continental shelf is an underwater extension of a country's land territory, and the United States has the right to protect the country's territorial sovereignty and manage its resources in accordance with international law. At the same time, the U.S. statement also included a new map in which the Arctic continental shelf has been enlarged and marked the outer boundaries of areas claimed by the United States. In reality, however, the Arctic and the Arctic Ocean surrounding it do not belong to any country under international law. As a result, the United States' unilateral and substantial expansion of Arctic sovereignty has been vigorously opposed by Russia.
The Russian side said that such a move by the United States would only lead to increased tensions in the region, and that President Putin has long made the development of the Arctic a priority for Russia. By taking the lead in announcing the expansion of its sovereignty claims in the Arctic region, the United States is tantamount to wanting to open up a second battlefield here and send a "war letter" to the fighting nations in order to launch a new round of competition. At present, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Russia, and the United States have all claimed sovereignty over the seabed area of the Arctic Ocean. In order to have exclusive access to these natural resources, Bloomberg directly pointed out that Washington's move in the Arctic is to obtain the minerals needed to produce electric vehicle batteries from here, so this is not good, it can be said that it is inevitable.
However, an interesting situation happened, just as the United States was preparing to open up a second battlefield and preemptively "issue a war letter" against Russia to compete for resources, it did not expect its ally - India to sit in the enemy's house in the next second. According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar recently visited Russia and held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. India's Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that Jaishankar would discuss issues related to economic cooperation with Russia during his visit, stressing in particular that the India-Russia partnership remains stable and durable over time. This is probably uncomfortable for Biden. After all, the "war letter" against Russia had just been issued, but the next second India was sitting directly in the enemy's house. One wants war, the other wants economic cooperation, and this time it is none other than India.
The reason for this is not that the United States is afraid of India, but that India occupies an extremely important strategic position in the anti-Russian or anti-Chinese strategy of the United States. So much so that even before, India did not follow in the footsteps of the West to sanction Russia, secretly bought low-priced Russian oil, and then sold it to European countries to make a lot of money. The United States has only verbally warned and has not taken severe punitive measures. From this, we can see that for India, the United States really "can't fight, can't scold", so next, the United States can only have suffering, and now Biden should really be uncomfortable.
