But running a canteen in the community is not easy. Where to choose the venue, who will pay for the funds, how to manage the operation, etc., these are all difficult problems.
In Huangshi, there are many communities with a large number of elderly people, such as the Wangjia community. To this end, Huangshi City will focus on the construction of the Happy Canteen project as a practical matter of people's livelihood this year.
The Huangshi Municipal Government Work Report, released at the beginning of this year, clearly pointed out that "83 old residential areas have been renovated, benefiting 34,455 residents." Completed the renovation of 500 homes for the elderly with special difficulties. Standardize, renovate, upgrade, and build 50 canteens for the elderly and meal assistance for the elderly in communities (villages) and streets (townships) for the elderly."

Focusing on the above work objectives and combined with the actual situation in Huangshi, the Happy Canteen highlights public welfare and marketization. The government provides free canteen business sites, and the use of water, electricity, gas, and heat is implemented according to the price of residents' daily life, and each happy canteen that meets the standards and operates normally is subsidized with 50,000 yuan per year. The operation of the canteen is "hired" by enterprises with a certain scale and experience.

At the same time, the civil affairs department has also set up a "Happy Canteen" fund at the Charity Federation to mobilize enterprises and caring people to donate to support the operation of the Happy Canteen.
At present, 50 community (village) happy canteens have been built in Huangshi, serving about 20,000 elderly people, and the satisfaction of the masses has reached 98%.
