After entering the command, the robot methodically collects all the crops of the specified color into the "bag...... Recently, at the national finals of the 2023 iCAN Future Agricultural Robot Challenge, sponsored by the Chinese Information Society and co-organized by Nanjing University of Technology and Nanjing Mowen Technology Co., Ltd., teams from colleges and universities across the country showed their talents. The students of Southern University of Technology performed well in the competition, and the three teams guided by Guo Tianwen, Wu Xiaoguang, Gao Lu, Xu Bin and Cui Xingyue from the School of Computer and Information Engineering (School of Artificial Intelligence) of the university all won three first prizes in the competition.

"The iCAN College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has opened up the track of the Future Agricultural Robot Challenge, aiming to attract and cultivate more young talents to participate in agricultural science and technology innovation and promote agricultural modernization and sustainable development. Talking about the background of the competition, Xia Jinwei, a representative of the iCAN Organizing Committee, introduced that the competition takes the future of agricultural picking as the theme, covering robot design, innovative thinking, development and application, assembly and maintenance, etc., focusing on the comprehensive ability of the contestants in robot development, intelligent interaction, programming and debugging, teamwork, etc.

According to the rules of the competition, the participating teams need to input relevant instructions to let the agricultural robot find the location of the target pick, identify the type of target pick, and accurately grasp the target picks and put them in the collector. "The competition is limited to 20 minutes, and each team has 2 chances of 8 minutes each, with the highest score being the final score, in addition to 4 minutes for the teams to debug. Sha Shujie, the captain of the "First Prize Team" and a student from Nanjing University of Technology, introduced.

The picking targets of this competition are small plastic gourds of different colors, which are hung vertically on wooden boards, and the participating teams establish the competition map and navigation interface through the ROS operating system, and mark the target location on the map, with the camera and embedded chip can quickly and accurately identify the target picks needed. "This is the same as the doll we usually play, only by letting the robot run to the designated position, can the robotic arm accurately grasp the target picking. Wang Yuran, the leader of the "Electronic Explorer Team" and a student from Nanjing University of Technology, said that in the early stage of robot design, they integrated the professional knowledge they usually learned such as pattern recognition and control principles into the practice process.

"Through this competition, we have completed the Xi of laser navigation and have an in-depth understanding of map modeling and intelligent obstacle avoidance. In the end, the target picks were successfully grabbed 4 times within the specified time and won the first prize. Sha Shujie added. "The competition is a process of learning Xi for both teachers and students. As teachers, we need to further think about how to effectively improve students' ability to apply professional knowledge for innovative research and development, and then practice application. Talking about the competition, instructor Guo Tianwen said.
