Lan Tianye, a master of the entertainment industry, was awarded the "July 1 Medal" at the age of 94, and this honor revealed his identity that he had hidden for many years -- a Communist Party member and an undercover spy! The old gentleman had ups and downs in his life, and joined the repertory troupe at the age of 17 to perform patriotic plays.
He joined the party at the age of 20, under the pseudonym Lan Tianye, and became a loyal intelligence officer of the party organization. He was a stage star by day and ventured deep into enemy camps at night. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he devoted his whole life to literary and artistic undertakings.
With a high degree of political consciousness and outstanding artistic attainments, he has made great contributions to the mainland. His story is deeply touching and full of positive energy.
Artistic enlightenment and patriotic ideals in youth
Lantian Ye, formerly known as Wang Runsen, was born in 1917 in a wealthy family in Hebei. His parents sent him to Peking to receive a good education, and Wang Runsen was full of interest and talent in painting since he was a child.
He successfully passed the examination and entered the Beiping Art College to study Xi fine arts, and was personally guided by the famous painter Xu Beihong. However, the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937 ruthlessly broke the trajectory of Wang Runsen's stable study.
When the bombing of planes and the sound of artillery fire resounded in Beiping, the young Wang Runsen fell into a painful confusion. He understands that he cannot stay out of the situation and must contribute to the country.
Under the introduction of a friend, Wang Runsen joined a drama club to awaken the patriotic enthusiasm of the people through drama performances. With his excellent appearance and excellent acting skills, he soon became a new star on the drama stage. However, the power of relying solely on drama performances is too small, and Wang Runsen is eager to do more for the motherland.
Join the underground party and become a professional spy to contribute to the victory of New China
In 1945, under the influence of his sister, 18-year-old Wang Runsen officially joined the Communist Party of China. Under the pseudonym Lan Tianye, he began his own underground work. During the day, Lan Tianye was an excellent drama actor, and at night, he became a loyal intelligence officer of the party organization, risking his life to go deep into the enemy camp and deliver important information to the party organization.
When carrying out the mission, Lan Tianye showed a high level of professionalism and decisive courage. Every time he brilliantly accomplished an arduous task, he made outstanding contributions to the victory of New China.
In 1948, the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party entered a critical moment, and Lantian Ye became the object of suspicion of the Kuomintang. Under the pressure of the cunning enemy step by step, Lan Tianye wittily led the whole troupe to "take a holiday" and successfully escaped and retreated to the liberated area.

In 1949, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lantian Ye returned to Beijing and joined the Art Troupe to devote himself to art. He stood on the national stage for the first time and began the construction of his literary and artistic career. In 1954, Lan Tianye entered the Central Academy of Drama Xi systematic, and after graduation, he returned to Beijing Renyi and continued to shine on the stage.
After performing countless classic roles, in 1990, Lan Tianye played the role of Jiang Ziya, who made the audience memorable. He is strict with himself to complete all the movements. In the battle at the end of "Fengshen List", Lan Tianye, who is in his 70s, insisted on completing complex actions in person. The old gentleman's dedication to art has won the admiration of all his peers.
