Liu Xianwu of Laiyang County in the Jin Dynasty was a close friend of the Quanzhen Sect King, but the county chronicle is not recorded

author:Jiaodong Story Meeting

"The proportion of immigrants in the total population in the Ming Dynasty" is a hot topic in the field of history and culture in Jiaodong, and there are those who think that "immigrants are the mainstay", and there are also those who think that "indigenous people are the majority". But either way, it's hard to convince the other side completely.

The reason why this topic is confusing and there is no accurate and authoritative answer is that there are very few historical materials in Jiaodong in the early Ming Dynasty and before the Ming Dynasty. In fact, not only is there little information related to folk names, but not even the archives of officials' appointments have survived.

This kind of situation where official archives are scarce, and the officials of the Jin Dynasty are a typical example. After the Jing Kang Rebellion, the Jin Dynasty conquered Shandong Prefecture and county, and thereafter until the Mongols entered the Central Plains, and for about a hundred years before and after, the Jiaodong Peninsula was under its rule (included in the pseudo-Qi Liu Yu period, and the time when Yang An'er was divided was negligible). And consulting the chronicles of the counties belonging to Deng Lai, there are very few Jin Dynasty county orders included in the records, seven or eight, and one or two few, which obviously does not correspond to the length of time.

Liu Xianwu of Laiyang County in the Jin Dynasty was a close friend of the Quanzhen Sect King, but the county chronicle is not recorded

Taking Laiyang County as an example, even in the more detailed Republic of China version of the county chronicle, the county order of the Jin Dynasty only records two names, one is called Song Liangguo (the name is still disputed), and the other is called Guo Li. The only two names are not from the archives of the county court, but are examined through epitaphs and jin shi. The resume of the official is still like this, not to mention the record of folk surnames, which can be seen in the lack of historical materials of Jiaodong in the Jin Dynasty.

Most of the terms of office of ancient county orders were about three years, and it is obvious that during the reign of the Jin Dynasty, there should be many people who served as county orders in Laiyang. It's just that most of them are already having difficulty verifying their names.

However, in addition to the Song Liangguo and Guo Yu just mentioned, there is also a Laiyang County Ling who is more fortunate: because he has a friendship with wang Chuyi, a celebrity of the Quanzhen Sect, he has appeared in the pen of Yuyang Zhenren. In this way, he can also be regarded as a famous name in qingshi.

Liu Xianwu of Laiyang County in the Jin Dynasty was a close friend of the Quanzhen Sect King, but the county chronicle is not recorded

In the "Quanjin Yuanzi", there is a poem "Man Ting Fang" written by Wang Chuyi. And the title of this poem is: Gift to Laiyang County Zai Liu Xianwu. That is to say, the Laiyang County Ling that Wang Chuyi knew was named "Liu Xianwu".

Unfortunately, this poem belongs to the text of enlightenment, and the content is mainly to promote the idea of the True Tao, and there is no introduction to Liu Xianwu and his people. The more valuable part is the first and last two sentences, one of which is: "According to ancient times, Changyang Resort." Another sentence is: "Whether the king knows it or not, the fate is deep and wide, and it is not difficult to reach the Tao." ”

When was this poem written? Detailed records have not been found. However, judging from the life of Wang Chu recorded in the Quanzhen Sect literature, the time of his activities in Laiyang was mainly concentrated in the late Dading and early Ming Dynasty (the time of Jin Shizong and Jin Zhangzong), so it is speculated that this Liu Xianwu's appointment as Laiyang County Ling was almost at this stage.

Liu Xianwu of Laiyang County in the Jin Dynasty was a close friend of the Quanzhen Sect King, but the county chronicle is not recorded

As for where Liu Xianwu was from, in what capacity did he serve in Laiyang County, and whether he was promoted later? None of this is known. The only general inference is that his attitude towards the Quanzhen Sect should be relatively close (the officials of the Jin and Yuan dynasties are more supportive of the Quanzhen Sect), and the background of this word is like when he asked Yu Wang Chuyi, and Wang Chuyi replied with words.

The full text of "Man Tingfang • Gift to Laiyang County Zai Liu Xianwu" is excerpted below for the reference of interested friends. Words:

"According to ancient traditions, Changyang Resort, good repair of the six degrees and three altars." Rest in your heart and nurture Zi Jindan. The Jade Cave was returned to Wanhua, Kungang Shang, wind and moon Shanshan. Yun Guangju, Mita Yuxiu, rejuvenation and childlike appearance. The entrance is locked, the golden baby is jade, and the immortals are chased. Hang for six days as you wish, and re-harvest Zhilan. The sky is long and high, fluttering and gathering, listing the immortal class. Whether the king knows it or not, the fate is deep and wide, and it is not difficult to reach the Tao. ”
