Lengkou Pass is located in Qian'an City, Tangshan, which was built in the early Ming Dynasty and is an important pass of the Great Wall. According to historical records, Lengkou Pass was originally called "Qingshui Mingyue Pass", because the Sand River flowing through the pass was famous for its clear water, and it was renamed "Lengkou Pass" in the Qing Dynasty.

In the south of Lengkou Village, North Lengkou Village, Jianchangying Town, Qian'an City, the reporter visited and saw that the Guancheng of Lengkou Pass was built with the surrounding mountains, and although part of the city wall collapsed naturally, it was still faintly visible, leaving a south city gate. Wu Shuping, secretary of the party branch of Beilengkou Village, said: "With the support of the government, the South City Gate was carefully renovated in 2008. Referring to the drawings handed down from our ancestors, it can be said that the original appearance has been preserved. ”
Wu Shuping, 55, grew up in the village and has witnessed the changes in the pass and the countryside for nearly half a century, and has been working on the front line of the Great Wall protection. "Protecting the Great Wall is like a mission that everyone in the village has come to do. In 2015, I officially became a 'Great Wall Protector' and began to regularly patrol, record and report on the 2.6 kilometers of the Great Wall. He said.
Walking out of the east of Beilengkou Village, I came to the bank of the Sand River. In winter, the Sand River flows quietly, the wide river surface is partially frozen, and the banks are neat and clean. Because of the need to irrigate nearly 3,000 acres of cultivated land in the surrounding area, it has suffered a lot of environmental crises due to the construction of large projects, embankments and dams, and the discharge of domestic sewage along the line.

Today, the river at the foot of the Great Wall has a better home. "In recent years, Qian'an City has promoted the construction of the project of 'global water control and clean water to run the city', and invested nearly 200 million yuan in the Shahe River basin to carry out renovation work. Wei Jianguo, director of the Qian'an Water Conservancy Bureau, introduced. Through hardening, beautification and greening, the Shahe River Basin has become the most beautiful section of the "Eastern Riverside Pastoral Greenway" scenic area of Qian'an City.
Beilengkou Village is a small village with a total of 63 households. In addition to planting field crops, in recent years, the villagers have operated hundreds of acres of forest fruits, with a net income of about 4,000 yuan per mu. "With the guidance and support of the government, we have planted chestnut trees on barren mountains and have seen benefits. We have also developed 'cold' resources, and there is an icefall scenic spot built around it, and when it is colder, there are more tourists, which increases the income of the villagers. Wu Shuping said.
Historically, Lengkou Pass is "known for its danger", and Baiyang Pass is "famous for its male", and the two have the title of "Xiongguan Dangerous Pass". From the Shahe River to the east for more than ten kilometers, you will arrive at the foot of this Xiongguan. Baiyangguan is also known as Baiyangyu, the marble Great Wall here is rare in the world, was built in the Warring States, repaired and strengthened in the Ming Dynasty, has a history of more than 2,000 years.
"There are all kinds of passes on the Great Wall, and there are very few surviving water passes like Baiyangyu. Yu Haiwen, the Great Wall protector of Baiyangyu Village, Dacuizhuang Town, Qian'an City, introduced that Baiyangyu has the Baiyang River flowing from north to south, there are 21 existing city towers, the well-preserved Great Wall is 4552 meters, the original gate spans the Baiyang River, both ends are connected with the Great Wall, and now the waterfront enemy building foundation on the east bank of the river still exists.

Walking on the banks of the Baiyang River outside the village, the wide water surface is calm and clear, and the environment on both sides of the river is like a riverside park. "There are many springs around the river in the hundreds of meters above and below the pass, and some of them have temperatures of 12 degrees Celsius in winter, so the waters do not freeze all year round. Zhao Qiongyu, deputy director of the Qian'an Changcheng National Cultural Park Management Center, said.
Despite guarding such treasures, the villagers "rely on the pass to eat the pass and rely on the water to eat", which is something that has only happened in recent decades. In the nineties of the 20th century, Baiyangyu Village was still poor compared with the surrounding towns and villages, and the more than 1,000 people in the village only had more than 300 acres of cultivated land, and eating rations became a problem.
Gong Jiemin, secretary of the party branch of Baiyangyu Village, said that with the support of the higher-level party committee and government, the village has built new infrastructure and established enterprises, gradually solving the problems of food and employment. In 2000, the village registered and established a tourism company, and created a "road to prosperity" by building Baiyangyu Scenic Area.

Soon, the villagers of Baiyangyu realized that this precious section of the Great Wall should be better protected and developed, so they entrusted the scenic spot to the Qian'an Municipal Tourism Bureau to operate, and turned around and had better development: many villagers operated farmhouse restaurants and homestay hotels, some villagers operated scenic cruises, and some villagers opened shops and supermarkets. The village collectives are rich, and the villagers are also rich.
Yu Haiwen's family took such a path. The farmhouse restaurant run by his family has more than 20 tables and the homestay has more than 10 rooms, and can have a net income of more than 100,000 yuan a year. He said: "As the days get better, the villagers have a stronger awareness of protecting the Great Wall, and I have a deeper understanding of the significance of the protection of the Great Wall, and I hope to protect this heritage."
