The white-haired girl originated from the protagonist "Xi'er" in the folklore story of the white-haired fairy girl in the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region, who became a little whitehead due to the persecution of the old society, and was called "white-haired girl" as the name suggests. In 1945, the Yan'an Lu Xun Art Institute created a collective creation based on this, and He Jingzhi and Ding Yi wrote the opera "White Haired Girl". Created in the Liberated Areas controlled by the Communist Party of China at the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in the 1940s, this literary and artistic work has far-reaching historical influence. It is the source of China's red classics, which has swept the whole of China and even most of the world, and once won the "Stalin Literature Prize". The work was later adapted into a variety of art forms and endured. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, literary and artistic works created during this special period became treasures of China's intangible cultural heritage. On the basis of inheriting the spirit of the opera of the same name, this comic strip can be called a classic in the history of comic strips with all-round vision, and won the first prize of the Second National Comic Book Award for Painting.
Painter's introduction: Hua Sanchuan, a native of Zhenhai County, Zhejiang Province, was born in Shanghai in 1930. He liked art since he was a child, often visited the book stall, and became obsessed with the "Little Man Book" comic strip, due to his family's embarrassment, he could not provide him with the conditions to learn to paint. At the age of 15, he went out to work as an apprentice and used his spare time to teach himself painting. Later, after being introduced, he went to the Shanghai Grand Stage to make a stage set and formally contacted art. Shortly after the liberation of Shanghai, he participated in a comic strip workers' workshop sponsored by the Municipal Bureau of Culture, and began to create comic strips for private bookstores, becoming a freelancer specializing in comic strip creation. In 1960, he was absorbed into the Shanghai Children's Publishing House and worked as a professional creator in the art studio.
The comic strip of "The White-Haired Girl" was painted by Hua Sanchuan and published by Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. The first edition of the black-and-white comic strip was published in March 1965 and the color edition was published in 2010.

Yang Bailao took Xi'er to the courtyard where the rent was paid.
