Recently, I consulted Toutiao's customer service and got a little "true biography" to share with Toutiao friends.
1. The reason for the low number of reading of micro-headlines without pictures
If the micro-headline only has text and no pictures, and there is little text, whether the reader enters from the homepage or from the recommendation page, all the text of the micro-headline will be displayed. Readers don't think to click on the text again to be an effective reader.
The following is an example:
Open this friend's homepage, although I saw all the text content, but to read it effectively, I need to click on the text again to really click on this article.

After clicking on the text, the word "listen" appears in the upper right corner of the page, and it is considered an effective reading to read on the above page. This is what Toutiao customer service told me.
2. There are reasons for the low reading volume of micro-headlines with few pictures and text
Generally, there are micro headlines with pictures, and the reader will only see three lines of content. But if there is little text, whether you see this micro headline on the recommendation page or on the homepage, the whole content will be displayed.
The following is an example:
Toutiao customer service told me that the text displayed is calculated by the number of words. The number of words is small, and even if you write multiple lines, they will all be displayed.

After entering the homepage and seeing the entire content including the image, we don't think of clicking on the text again, so it will result in a number of likes, no readings, or very few readings.
This micro headline looks like a lot of likes, but in fact, there are many people who have read it and have not counted it. That's what Toutiao's customer service told me.
3. The reason for the low number of micro-headlines of couplets
The following is an example:
This is seen on the mutual friend recommendation page, we generally think that the couplet is good, and we will click a like on this page to finish the work. However, this operation will not count the number of reads.
Toutiao customer service has repeatedly emphasized that clicking on the picture is not counted as the number of reads, but clicking on the text is counted as the number of reads.
The correct way to do this is to click on the text of the couplet to enter the reading page. But I don't know how many seconds to read such a small couplet, how many seconds to read is considered an effective reading?

I got a few lines right, and due to the small number of words, the homepage is all displayed.
Consult the customer service of Toutiao, I asked why this micro headline shows all the content, instead of showing three lines of content?
4. "Off-site reading" is also one of the reasons for the low number of reading on micro headlines
I have a micro-headline with hundreds of likes, and only a few dozen reads, so I asked the headline customer service what's going on? I didn't figure out what off-site reading likes were before, but then I checked it myself, and I only figured out off-site reading, which is "non-reading on today's headlines". For example, the articles on Toutiao today were forwarded to WeChat, and people read them on WeChat, which is not counted as reading. However, it is still unclear what "off-site likes" mean. Because reading headline articles on WeChat, if you don't read them in the headline APP, you can't like them.
5. Write at the end
Some of the friends who wrote in the headlines made it clear that they were looking forward to the benefits. Some also said that it was purely for fun, and in Toutiao, they were looking for a place to feel at ease and release their emotions, and they didn't care about the benefits. But no matter what kind of mentality people have, they will pay attention to the number of reads they post, right?
You like it perfunctorily, and I like it perfunctorily, and everyone's reading volume will not be high. My approach must be sincere to my friends, and if there is a praise for me, I will definitely give back. I will click on the homepage of a friend who likes me, pick one or two articles I want to read, read them, like them, or write a comment, and I will never like many articles in a second. If you have time to read one or two more articles, if you don't have time, you can read the previous one, after all, others have read their own articles and liked them, right!
Some people say that it is a matter of a few cents or a few cents, and it is okay to praise it in seconds! Friends, do you agree with this statement and practice?
A friend told me that because he liked too many people in seconds, Toutiaojun informed him that he was restricted from recommending. It's a consequence we don't want, right?
Therefore, what Toutiao customer service says, you still have to listen.
