With the continuous improvement of people's pursuit of consumer quality of life in recent years and the continuous investment of a large amount of capital in the hotel industry, "love hotel", as one of the key points of couples' consumption, has begun to develop on a large scale in China. However, the existing buildings and interior spaces often go astray by adopting a single scene and piling up a large number of straightforward erotic symbols, limiting the interior space to trying their best to meet the needs of customers to "sleep", ignoring the interesting experience of "not sleeping" in couples' accommodation. For some reason, this kind of hotel design, which is based on the most basic needs of human nature, body and behavior, has rarely been really thought about and designed.
The interior space design of Mylines Love Poetry Hotel aims to redefine the concept of a love hotel. Located on the edge of the West Lake in Hangzhou, it covers an area of 9,000 square meters and has a construction area of 2,200 square meters. It is not only designed to serve excitement, but also to meet the four indispensable parallel needs of 'relaxation, romance, release, and passion', in which couples can return to their original selves: the classification of the 33 rooms takes the primitive human desire as the starting point, and defines the six basic types of original desires: "narcissism, desire, exposure, fantasy, abuse and romance". Through the control of five variables: the outer interface, the inner interface, the size, the plane layout and the sound and light effect, the space environment can stimulate and guide the user's original desire, so that it can be amplified and released independently.
01 Hara Lust no Self-Love
Narcissism is the origin of human nature. In this original space, mirrors are no longer just functional objects for dressing and changing, but become a necessary part of the environment. From the top of the entrance corridor to the wall that runs through the depth of the space, the mirror surface appears directly in the form of the finished surface, and for the pendant and curtains on the top of the bed, it also replaces traditional materials and transforms the properties of the object to a certain extent.
The superposition of mirrors in different dimensions on the basis of infinitely satisfying people's self-obsession enlarges the scale of space in all directions in the senses, thus changing the user's spatial perception. The bar, desk and bed, which are traditionally accentuated, are combined into a modular piece of furniture, and the back of the bed is a bar counter for drinks and a desk, bringing together the various stages of a couple's behaviour more closely through design.
Illuminated lettered selfie stands and red armrests on the walls are waiting for users to spontaneously explore how they use them. In addition to extending the mirror surface on the top surface and countertop in the washing area, the use of concrete materials and irregular wall openings on the finished surface try to create a contrast between smoothness and roughness.
02 The accumulation of original desires
The so-called accumulation of desire is to focus on the accumulation of emotions and desires in this space, and focus on the toilet and corridor part of the traditional hotel room, and completely reorganize the layout of the guest room, so as to lengthen and enrich the process of accumulation.
The space has set up two independent entrances for couples, deliberately separating the two people who were originally one, and the shower, grooming, changing and other behaviors corresponding to the independent aisle space on the one hand bring a sense of ritual to advance layer by layer, and on the other hand, lengthen the waiting time for users to further intimate contact in the concept, bringing a strong and eager sense of space exploration.
Starting from the corridor, all the finished surfaces and soft furnishings of the entire guest room are divided into two by the center line of the space, and the delicate contrast between white and rose red contrasts with the roughness of gray, black and dark blue, guiding the contrast between rigidity and softness. The tension generated by the difference in the spatial atmosphere between the two sides finally creates a sense of conflict between the couple, so that the two parties stimulate the desire to conquer the other party in the holding and confrontation, so as to realize the psychological impact of the environment.
After experiencing the oppression of the narrow aisle, the user can unleash himself in a sequence of activities formed by the stage, sofa and bed. The bathtub at the end of the sequence is set by the floor-to-ceiling window at the end of the room, and the scenery from the window is introduced to stimulate people's desire for the most original nature through the introduction of the window.
03 The Exposure of Original Desires
Exposure is an attempt to study and explore spatial transparency, which is designed to satisfy the inner impulse of a couple to expose themselves and experience the tension caused by the risk of "being seen" while ensuring the basic attribute of privacy. These rooms are designed at the edge of the complex to maximize the contact between the rooms and the beautiful landscape outside.
Except for the entrance door and the bathing and washing area, the remaining two continuous interfaces in the space are completely opened to the outside in the form of floor-to-ceiling glass, becoming the visual focus of the internal and external handover. Sofas, beds, slings, showers, and other space components corresponding to the main activities of the user are arranged sequentially along the two main interfaces, and maintain their continuity through a unified design language, so that couples are always under the threat of being exposed to the outside world. In fact, the double insurance of one-way mirror mask and gauze curtain used in the main interface of the floor-to-ceiling window ensures the "exposure" of sensory stimulation and actual safety.
For the interior space, the bathtub becomes a central point, and the washing area forms an internal interface, once the two users in the same room are slightly separated due to bathing and other behaviors, the two people on this side will automatically enter the role of the "seeing" exposer and the "watched" peeping, and experience the mutual benefit of stimulation in the opposition of the surface.
04 The fantasy of original desire
The achievement of thinking fantasy lies in abandoning the redundancy in the space and focusing on the ontology of the self, so the design of this space awakens the user's hidden fantasy by creating as pure and surreal scenes as possible. The main space is made of white ceilings and floors, as well as almost white wall spray paintings, creating a colorless and extreme atmosphere.
As the only two pieces of furniture in the main space, the bed is designed to be recessed and flush with the floor, and the back of the bed and the low table are made of transparent acrylic material to dissolve the volume of the furniture and reduce the damage to the purity of the main space. The form of sleeping on the floor corresponding to the built-in bed allows users to feel the surrounding environment from a low perspective more completely.
In the white main space, the abstract forest looms in the fog, creating a sense of déjà vu suspended in the clouds, and the light strips on the wall project sparkling waves on the wall through the special-shaped glass, which makes people feel as if they are roaming underwater, these faint lights and shadows add a touch of mystery to the purity of the main space, to induce couples to experience the subtle changes in their behavior and activities.
The washing area and the entrance area are separated by a continuous glass interface, and the vivid reds and cool blues spread in the form of a mosaic across all the interfaces of the annex space, thus generating a more direct psychological suggestion than the main space.
05 The abuse of original desire
Abuse is one of the most primordial of human desires, and the design of this room type evokes and amplifies the emotions of similar experiences through the atmosphere of the space. The rough interface, narrow scale, and dim lighting create an overall spatial feeling that makes the space appear as unknowable as a secret room.
Then, in addition to the functional attributes of semi-permeable partitions and the convenience of fixing various props everywhere, the real practical function of the dense staggered metal grid in the front half of the space is to create a sense of oppression that is bound, thus triggering the user to form a sense of helplessness in being trapped.
The unknowability of the Chamber of Secrets, combined with the feeling of helplessness in bondage, encourages users to generate large emotional swings, allowing them to enter their respective roles more quickly and experience the pleasure of emotions more fully. The accentuated metal mesh is made of gold metal to maintain the overall mood of the space and avoid the discomfort caused by excessive fear.
Compared with the depressive front half, the back half of the room is slightly more spacious to ensure the comfort of the user's sleep. The minibar fits snugly around the bed, allowing the two sexes to promote each other. The widened bed rest and raised bed frame are different from ordinary beds, and are intended to stimulate unusual couple activities.
06 The romance of original desire
Romance is a common experience pursued by all couples, and the design of the room type creates a warm environment to increase the interest of couples when they get along, making people happy and increasing the intimacy between partners, thereby promoting hormone secretion and triggering emotions.
As a cultural concept, romance has its own conventional environmental atmosphere, and hazy sense and changing light and shadow are the attributes required by the romantic environment. The core of the room reverts to a more conventional bed, but a curtain is added to distinguish it from the ordinary bed. Surrounded by a gauze tent, the bed is no longer in the form of a single piece of furniture, but a hazy semi-enclosed space, and the haze of the outside world and the tightening of the space are the erotic catalysts needed between partners.
The light and shadow created by the fiber optic lamp on the top of the gauze tent, the slow light and dark breathing, and the flickering candlelight intoxicate the idealized scene that has long been recognized. A separate bar is available for users to enjoy a drink, a home theater creates an uninterrupted movie date experience, and the warmth and security of a living room-style sofa setup makes it easier for partners to unguard and increase their sense of ownership.
