In the hot Costa Rican sun, there is a unique architectural marvel that makes you feel it different at first glance. Eschewing the regular forms commonly used in traditional architecture, it opts for a bold design language that combines irregular geometric forms with simple materials to create an artistic private home.
The protagonist of this story is the building that has been carefully designed by Ecostudio Architects. The purpose of the editor today is to lead everyone to this residence and unveil its mystery. At the beginning, let's focus on the exterior of the building.
Two volumes scattered with simple materials are combined in a seemingly random and carefully calculated way to form a heart-warming spatial structure. Can you imagine how the sober elegance of fair-faced concrete, the transparency and clarity of glass, and the strength and coldness of steel have become so striking under the skillful hands of designers.
As we look deeper, we discover that the two floors are not simply stacked on top of each other, but form an intimate courtyard that provides a tranquil corner away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The boundaries between interior and exterior space are blurred here, and architecture blends with nature to create a special living experience. But nothing is more appealing about the building than its physical design.
One of the volumes has an irregular quadrangular design, which bites into another regular rectangular mass, as if two dancers meet in a graceful spin, and the intersection is the main entrance that leads us to this home. In the living room, bathroom, corridor and other spaces of this home, every corner reveals the designer's careful consideration of details.
Here, every corner, every window opening and closing, becomes a part of the beauty of the experience. And at night, the combination of architecture and light seems to tell a whole new story. The interior and exterior night scenes reflect a tranquil and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to immerse yourself in such an environment. With such a beautiful building, it is only natural that the weather in Costa Rica is also taken into account.
The designers have made many clever arrangements in this regard, the side with strong heat energy is closed by concrete walls, and at the same time, through the design of intersecting doors and windows, the wind can shuttle freely and quickly take away the heat in the room. At the same time, the cantilevered balconies not only add visual tension to the building, but also provide a wide eaves for the space below to shield from the scorching sun.
Explore every nook and cranny of the building, and you'll find that its first floor plan and second floor plan, each line direction, is the result of careful calculations. In a space of 350 square meters, it completes the perfect combination of modern architectural aesthetics and practical functionality.
