In 36 AD, between 71 BC and 25 BC, relations between the Western Han Dynasty and the Xiongnu, a nomadic people in the northern steppe, were tense, and wars broke out frequently on the border. In order to quell the war and stabilize the situation on the frontier, Emperor Yuan of the Han Dynasty decided to marry a woman to Shan Yu as his wife, and used this as a diplomatic means in exchange for peace. At this time, Wang Zhaojun was already a great beauty in the capital, standing out among thousands of school-age girls.

After the news of Wang Zhaojun's marriage to the Xiongnu came out, it caused a great sensation. Her flowery face and noble qualities have won people's admiration and pity. It is said that people rushed to the palace gates to see this beautiful girl. However, what no one expected was that this outstanding beauty would choose to spend the rest of her life in a distant foreign land.

When Wang Zhaojun embarked on the road to the Xiongnu with an extremely heavy heart, her heart was full of nostalgia for the motherland and her relatives. But at the same time, as a daughter of the Han Dynasty, she is also well aware of the historical responsibility she shoulders. She hoped that through her personal strength, she could alleviate the contradictions and conflicts between Han and Hungary and promote friendly exchanges between the two peoples.

After arriving in the Xiongnu, Wang Zhaojun won Shan Yu's love and respect for his elegant and dignified behavior. She did her best to fulfill her responsibilities as a wife, and used her wisdom and charm to influence the concept of the Xiongnu. More importantly, she continued to elaborate on the culture and system of the Han Dynasty in front of her husband, so that Shan Yu had a deeper understanding and identification with the Han Dynasty. And all this shows that Wang Zhaojun married the Xiongnu not out of compulsion or helplessness, but a deliberate choice.

Over time, although the border situation eased somewhat, Shan Yu did not achieve his original goal, so he repatriated some of the Xiongnu nobles who remained in the Central Plains without Wang Zhaojun's consent. This undoubtedly angered the Han emperor and court officials. They demanded punishment for those who violated the covenant and sent troops to suppress them.

In this case, Wang Zhaojun made an unexpected choice. She personally persuaded Shan Yu to release those who had been repatriated, and said that as long as Shan Yu could abide by the agreement, she was willing to remain in the Xiongnu, in order to further eliminate the estrangement between the two countries. This move not only deeply moved Shan Yu, but also made the emperor of the Han Dynasty look up to her.

Soon after, in 33 B.C., between 98 and 48 B.C., that is, more than 2,000 years ago, Wang Zhaojun finally returned to his homeland. Despite all the twists and tribulations, she still maintains an optimistic and cheerful heart, and always believes that love can dissolve hatred and cross racial differences. When she returned to her hometown, the great woman was warmly welcomed and supported.

To a certain extent, Wang Zhaojun is a representative figure of that era and an eternal spiritual symbol of the Chinese nation. Her dedication and sacrifice fully embodied the lofty moral sentiments and firm ideals and convictions of the ancient people on the mainland. As a poem says: "Falling red is not a ruthless thing, turning into spring mud is more protective of flowers." "Wang Zhaojun is like the petals that are blown away by the wind, even if they are floating far away, they can nourish the growth of new flowers and bloom with brilliance.

Today, when we look back on that glorious period of ancient history, we cannot forget that brave woman - Wang Zhaojun. She used her actions to prove to the world that no matter what the circumstances and conditions, as long as there is love, there is hope.
