Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain has beautiful natural scenery and profound historical and cultural heritage, and is also the red research and development unit of our university. On December 9, 2023, under the arrangement and guidance of the school's brigade headquarters, the five-year (3) class music learning squadron of our school went to Baiyun Mountain for research activities, and deeply felt that this trip was not only a natural exploration, but also a spiritual enlightenment to the folk customs and history of Guangzhou.
1. The beauty of folklore
Baiyun Mountain attracts countless tourists with its unique natural scenery. We walked into the "Love Square" and came to the Cultural and Folk Customs Corridor along the mountain path, and the narrator introduced the six groups of sculptures about local folk customs in Guangdong: "Falling Rain", "Sticking to the Spring", "Returning from the Flower Street", "Catching the Trip", "Donating Love" and "Tea Ceremony". The students were very curious about the "catch" and listened carefully around the explanation.
Second, the rhyme of culture
In addition to the natural scenery, Baiyun Mountain also carries a wealth of historical and cultural scenic spots, and there are still ancient temples such as Baiyun Temple, Shuangxi Temple, Nengren Temple, Maitreya Temple, and some places of interest such as Baiyun Immortal Hall, Pearl Tower, and Baihua Mound. In June 2017, the "Legend of Zhengxian" project in Baiyun Mountain was included in the list of representative items of intangible cultural heritage in Guangzhou. The team members learned about the religious culture, landscape culture and tea culture of Baiyun Mountain. During the tour, we felt the breadth and profundity of traditional Chinese culture, and cherished and inherited this cultural heritage even more. The term "tea culture" brought out by the "tea ceremony" also began to take root in the minds of students......
Third, the depth of education
Baiyun Mountain is not only beautiful in nature, but also closely related to the history of Guangzhou for more than 2,200 years. In the late Qin Dynasty, Ge Hong in the Jin Dynasty, Jingtai Zen Master in the Southern Liang Dynasty, Du Xianyan, Li Qunyu, Su Shi, Han Yu in the Tang and Song dynasties, Liu Yongfu and Sun Yat-sen in modern times, and the older generation of revolutionaries Zhu De, Dong Biwu, Guo Moruo, etc., have left footprints in Baiyun Mountain. Premier Zhou Enlai and Vice Premier Chen Yi even carried out state activities at the Baiyun Mountain Villa Hostel, which was known as the "Diaoyutai in the South" at that time.
Fourth, the journey of the soul
The most memorable thing for everyone is the joy of everyone hiking to the top of the mountain, all the way up the mountain, very tiring and fulfilling. Everyone learned to take care of and help each other, and better understood that the Five (3) Lexue Squadron was a whole, and all the Young Pioneers needed to work together in order to reach the top of the mountain faster. I also cherish everything in front of me more. This research trip is not only a journey of natural exploration, but also a journey of the soul.
