Stepping on the fallen leaves, the reporter met Wang Lan, the leader of the "Plant Pathology" discipline and doctoral supervisor of Tarim University. In 1992, Wang Lan graduated from Shihezi University with a major in plant protection and was assigned to teach at Tarim University.
"Becoming a teacher has always been my wish. At that time, there were few college students, and there was a special need for teachers here, so I took advantage of my youth to go to the places where the motherland needed them most. Wang Lan said.
When I first saw Wang Lan, there was another person standing next to her - Feng Hongzu. As Wang Lan's husband, he is a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Agriculture of the university. The husband and wife have adhered to it for more than 30 years, and they are the witnesses, participants, and leaders of the great changes in Tarim University.
"We are university classmates, and we have come here together after graduation, and only by having a clear understanding of the situation at the grassroots level can we better cultivate the talents needed for the frontier. Feng Hongzu told reporters.

From the country, into the field. Wang Lan led the team to make outstanding contributions to the occurrence of crop diseases and insect pests, pathogenic mechanisms and control technologies, and traveled all over the country to complete the "last mile" of science and technology to serve agriculture. At the age of 55 this year, she is still active in the fields north and south of the Tianshan Mountains.
During the critical period of crop diseases, Wang Lan often sacrificed her rest time to lead her team members to go deep into the countryside and fields to conduct field investigations and scientific and technological services on the occurrence of crops, scientifically analyze, predict and warn, and minimize the loss of diseases.
After years of unremitting efforts, Wang Lan's research or introduction of new achievements and new technologies in cotton, forest fruit and other crops have achieved significant economic and social benefits, the achievements are not easy to come by, thanks to Mr. Wang's perseverance and perseverance.
In terms of discipline development, Wang Lan has personally experienced and participated in the difficult process of running a school from scratch and from weak to strong.

Wang Lan said: "I have witnessed many colleagues and friends around me have changed careers and transferred out one after another, and I have also had many opportunities to leave Tajikistan University and work in units with better living environment and scientific research conditions. However, the 'Populus euphratica spirit' that has been precipitated by Tada over the years has always influenced and inspired me, and after thinking about it again and again, I finally chose to stay. ”

In the teaching and research work of integrated management of agricultural pests, Feng Hongzu has carried out innovative breakthroughs in key technologies of integrated pest control, and promoted the improvement and technological progress of pest control technology in cotton and fruit trees through technology demonstration and promotion. The research results have been widely used in the pest control technology of jujube, Korla fragrant pear, walnut and cotton, and a test demonstration base has been established in the first and third divisions of the Corps, and a large number of plant protection technicians and workers have been trained.
Where there is effort, there is gain. For more than 30 years, Feng Hong's ancestors have presided over and participated in more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial projects, and his research results have won 1 second prize of the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award for Scientific Research, 2 second prizes of the XPCC Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 second prize of the Autonomous Region Science and Technology Progress Award, 4 national invention patents, and 6 monographs.
In the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, on both sides of the Tahe River, in the fields, and around the workers of all ethnic groups, where there is a need, the science and technology service team of Tarim University will go there.
