As a region rich in wind and solar energy, the energy industry in Northeast China is "chasing the wind and chasing the sun", accelerating the deployment of clean energy around resource advantages and promoting high-quality development.

With key projects, we will lead the formation of new energy power generation industry clusters, give full play to the advantages of science and education, promote the new energy equipment manufacturing industry, and strive to leap onto the new track of development and lay out the future...... "Chasing the wind and chasing the sun" to ensure energy security
Baicheng in Jilin Province is lined with wind turbines and photovoltaic equipment is arranged in a matrix; Daqing in Heilongjiang Province has been promoted in the integration of "wind, solar, gas and hydrogen storage" and the power generation capacity of new energy has been continuously improved; and in Dalian, Liaoning Province, hundreds of wind turbines are towering in the blue sky and blue sea...... The advantages of clean energy in Northeast China are being continuously converted into electricity and exported to the whole country.
Jilin Province is rich in wind and solar resources, and according to estimates, the total amount of technology development is about 115 million kilowatts. The western part of Jilin is flat and has many rivers, lakes and wetlands, and is the core area of Songliao Clean Energy Base.
In the wind farm of the new energy branch of Huaneng Jilin Power Generation Co., Ltd., the 110-meter-high wind turbine blades continue to rotate. Dozens of kilometers away, Tongyu County, Baicheng City, is building a "one-stop procurement" city for the entire wind power industry chain, which can be found in everything from wind turbine blades, nacelle covers, towers, and screws and anchors. The wind power industry has driven the industrial growth rate of this small county town to be among the highest in the province.
Jilin's "Three Gorges Onshore Scenery" project is progressing steadily, and the installed capacity of new energy accounts for 57% of the total installed capacity of Jilin Province. From January to November this year, Jilin New Energy's cumulative power generation increased by more than 36% year-on-year. "As the provincial capital city with 40.5% of the province's power supply, Changchun has become the main body of new energy consumption. Jiao Mingxi, director of the power dispatching and control center of the State Grid Changchun Power Supply Company, said.
Clean energy has rejuvenated the oil city of Daqing. "Grasp new energy like oil and gas production" - Daqing Oilfield has established a new energy work leading group, and since 2023, new energy projects have generated a total of 356,954,300 kWh. As of the end of October, the installed capacity of new and renewable energy in Heilongjiang Province reached 22.86 million kilowatts, accounting for 50.2% of the province's total installed capacity.
Looking south from the air, more than 300 "big windmills" stand in the blue sky and blue sea on the sea area more than 20 kilometers away from the coastline of Zhuanghe City, Dalian, Liaoning Province. "Four offshore wind power projects have been connected to the grid, with an annual power generation capacity of 2.73 billion kWh. "From January to November this year, Liaoning's new grid-connected new energy installed capacity was 5.5771 million kilowatts, which has exceeded the maximum new energy installed capacity in the province over the years. By 2025, Liaoning plans to account for 55% of its installed capacity and more than 48% of its power generation.
Led by science and technology, the industry has leapt upward
New energy power generation leads the two ends of the industry: one end is the output of "green electricity" to effectively ensure energy security, and the other end is the production of "green electricity" to lead the Northeast advantageous equipment manufacturing industry to "have a new generation".
Jilin is rich in scientific and educational resources, and a number of university research institutes such as Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin University, and Northeast Normal University are located in the region. Give full play to the strong strength of universities and scientific research institutes, promote the integration of production and research, Jilin strives to break through the key technologies of the new energy industry and promote industrial upgrading.
Not long ago, the first batch of products produced by the lead-carbon battery project with an annual output of 5 million kVAh of Kyrgyzstan Energy Valley (Baicheng) Energy Storage Investment Co., Ltd. rolled off the assembly line in Baicheng. Near the production line, there is the Baicheng Electrochemical Energy Storage Technology R&D Base of the State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry of Jilin University. "We are working on a new generation of energy storage batteries and look forward to taking the technology to the next level. Lin Haibo, a professor at the School of Chemistry of Jilin University, said.
Science and technology help industrial layout. In Liaoning, the R&D advantages of scientific research institutes such as the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Dalian University of Technology are being released. Huachi Kinetic Energy, located in the Shenfu Reform and Innovation Demonstration Zone, is stepping up the manufacture of all-magnetic levitation energy storage flywheel products with large storage capacity. "This new type of new energy storage technology has a large volume and high storage capacity, and can be used in a wide range of applications. Feng Chuang, the company's marketing director, said.
A number of fan equipment manufacturing industries have settled in Northeast China. In the blade manufacturing park of China's Yizhong Longshen (Qiqihar) Composite Materials Co., Ltd., workers are producing wind turbine blades. "From the start of the construction of the park in April 2021, to the first 76-meter blade rolling off the assembly line in May 2022, to the 98-meter blade mold in production, the strong demand has pushed us to step up research and development, break through bottlenecks, and move forward at full speed. Xu Ge, general manager of the company, said.
Seize the track and cultivate emerging industrial clusters
In the northeast of the old industrial base, the manufacturing industry has outstanding advantages, standing at a new starting point for comprehensive revitalization, seizing opportunities in various places, and a new energy industrial cluster is being nurtured and formed in the black soil.
Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, has experienced rapid development of wind power industry in recent years. The wind power equipment manufacturing project has not only become the economic growth point of this old industrial city, but also further improved the equipment manufacturing and complete machine supporting capacity in the surrounding areas, forming a modern energy equipment industrial cluster with geographical advantages.
A similar scene also appeared in Jilin. In just over 100 days from the start of construction to production, CRRC Songwon New Energy Equipment Industrial Park realized the first wind turbine factory in July 2022. In less than 100 days from the start of construction to completion, the photovoltaic equipment modules of Songyuan Zhengtai New Energy rolled off the assembly line and were shipped to the installation site. Driven by large projects, a number of supporting enterprises have come one after another, and the advantages of industrial agglomeration have emerged.
Resources such as wind power and photovoltaic power can provide abundant sources of electricity for the production of green hydrogen. Using "wind" and "light" resources to achieve local transformation, many places in Northeast China have vigorously developed "green power" parks to charge towards the technological highland.
On September 26, with a total investment of 29.6 billion yuan, the construction of Songyuan Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project started in Songyuan City, Jilin Province, and is expected to produce 600,000 tons of green synthetic ammonia and 60,000 tons of green methanol per year......
Not long ago, the Jilin Provincial Hydrogen Energy Industry Comprehensive Research Institute was established, "the institute will focus on the new energy and hydrogen energy industry chain, and build an innovative research and development base integrating technological innovation, talent training, pilot test and transformation of scientific and technological achievements."
