Last week, the final event of the 2023 season, the WTA 125 Limoges, was held in Limoges, France. In Sunday's final, Spain's Cristina Busa won both singles and doubles.

World No. 82 No. 5 seed Bousa won her first career WTA 125 singles title in one hour and 48 minutes with a 2-6 6-1 6-2 comeback victory over world No. 235 French hopeful Jerqui Mott.

The 25-year-old did not drop a set on her way to the Limoges singles final, but she faced a strong resistance from 20-year-old wildcard Frenchman Louis Boisson in Friday's quarter-finals.

In that match, Boisson led 5-0 in the first set, and in desperation, Boissa chased it all the way to 6-6 and won the tie-break 7-3 to win the match 7-6(3) and 6-2.

In Sunday's final, Jacqui Mott played aggressively in the first set, taking a 4-0 lead and winning the first set without any suspense. The Frenchman won 88 per cent of her first serve in the first set, and she never touched a break point in this set.

But in the second set, Busa dominated the game, and her forehand strike took the score to 3-0. Since then, Bousa has only allowed his opponent to win one game and has never faced a break point, winning the second set to level the score and go into the deciding set.

In the deciding set, Jacqui Mot sent double faults in his own service game in a row, and Busa's play was still very stable, and finally won the deciding set 6-2, defeating Jacquemo 2-1 to win the championship. With the points of this singles title, on Monday, Busa's singles ranking rose to a new career high of 61st.

Less than an hour after winning the final, Bussa returned to Centre Court for the doubles final. She and Yana Szikova needed 68 minutes to defeat second seeds Oksana Kalashnikova and Maya Ramsden 6-4 6-1 to claim the title.

Bussa has won a total of four WTA 125 doubles titles in his career – all four of which he has won with four different partners in the past 13 months.

The doubles title is the second WTA 125 doubles title of Busa's partner Szikova's career, with her last doubles title coming in Colina, Chile last November with Aldila Sujadi. (Source: Tennis Home Author: Mei)
