In 2023, Bao'an District Library ushered in the 30th anniversary of its establishment and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the new library, as the highlight of the theme exhibition of Bao'an Library during the Shenzhen Reading Month - "Painting Beauty Qianhai: Meet the Library", on December 16, the two-day Baotu Carnival series of activities was unveiled as scheduled in the exhibition hall on the basement floor of Bao'an Library.
The history of Bao'an Library can be traced back to 1983, when Bao'an County Library, as the first county-level library in Shenzhen, was officially established. After 10 years of development, in 1993, the county was withdrawn and the independent district library building was completed and opened. On December 30, 2013, the new Bao'an Library located in the core area of Qianhai was officially opened, which is the largest and leading library in the construction level of county and district libraries in China. At present, there are 131 member libraries in the general branch library system of Bao'an Library, with a total area of nearly 100,000 square meters, forming a public library system in the whole region, providing comprehensive, convenient and complete services.
In 2004, Bao'an Library established the Public Communication Department, which is the first business department in the city to carry out reading promotion activities. This initiative is the first of its kind in the reading promotion business of Shenzhen Public Library.
